Speaking of Young,

Yet, his non play making ability continues to be on display.
umm he made plays saturday...that was on display.. we never had bad field position as a result of a bad decision on his part and I can't remember a bad play since the guy has been here. I dunno, maybe I am weird, but i will take consistent everyday over streaky. Seems the only thing on display is your utter lack of comprehension of how a return game works and how to analyze statistics.

Hey stud, instead of hiding behind a screen name on a message board, go to the Volwalk Sat and when CBJ and DY come thru you can yell your opinion at the top of your lungs to the folks who can put your plans in action. Even though we disagree on this, I'll pray for your speedy recovery. I'll even send you some orange sherbet while your jaws are wired shut. Then when they remove the wires you can lol about the safety of your keyboard.:eek:lol:

Jashon Robertson showed a surprising burst of speed after catching the pass Worley got hurt on. Too bad it was flag for illegal touching or he may have housed that for 6. Any chance he gets a shot in the return game this season?

Another way to look at it.

Gault averaged almost 4 yards past the line you get the ball if you kneel down.

Young averages 2 yards behind the line where you get the ball if you kneel down on kicks into the end zone.

Also...Gault>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Young.

They moved the touchback from the 20 to the 25. It's not youngs fault. The return guys job is to get field Position and not to turn the ball back over. Their job is not to score. Sure it's great if they do in most cases.

At least on Sat he outperformed Gurley on KOR's. Make what you want of comparing the two directly on talent but the fact stands; DY had a better average per return and better starting field position per return.

So, obviously Gurley is a talentless hack.

Lol. That's funny

If he fought every fan that thought he should be replaced, he would be duking it out for a long time.

Haha he isn't a threat. Nice word usage though

1. Willie Gault 78
2. Leonard Scott 77
3. Devrin Young 64 (including 2014 stats)
4. Corey Larkins 63
5. David Oku 49

Ranks third in career kickoff return yards with 1,485, next No. 2 Leonard Scott (1,788) and Willie Gault (1,854)
Ranks second in career total kick & punt return yards with 1,797, next No. 1 Willie Gault (2,513)

Depressing. Tells me we've never done much in the return game as a program. I know what I see with my own eyes regarding Devrin. Serviceable on his best day, below average most of the time.

Just showed your comprehension of the situation right there. He wouldn't have to lift a hand. Those around you would take care of it. Don't worry you'll learn as you get older

Horrible defense getting scored on all the time leads to more kick returns. Any average player could've accumulated those stats the past couple years given the circumstances.

We have better options that are starters, but coach is going with the safe and expendable option.. Hopefully we see a young guy take over.. Last post

GBO

Then you get that all the whining about Young isn't going to change anything.
He's not great, but I would rather have him back there than Cam.
Also, he doesn't fumble, which tends to be overlooked.

Your reasoning assumes every single kick is fielded in the end zone. I am pretty sure that is not the case.

You can't determine average starting position, as you assume, from return length. What you can say is that these players moved the ball this far forward on average from their starting position, whether that was in the end zone or at the 5 yard line.

Understandable schoolboy error, though.

Also, if Gault is eligible to play next week I'd happily start a 54 year old kick returner if I were Butch Jones.

Otherwise, who on the current roster is better than Young? That is the discussion at hand.

Lol.

I only assumed they had similar amounts brought out from the end zone, not every one. In that case Gault gains us past the mark, Young does not. Get it?

There are multiple skills players in this freshman class that will play in the NFL, Young never will.

Comprende?

Strictly speaking your observation really doesn't have much application unless you are comparing the prudence of taking a TB when deep in the endzone under the new rules.

I believe he coughed up the ball at Oklahoma, after bringing it out of the end zone. We recovered at the 9. Great field position. JUST TAKE A KNEE.

The fellow you were responding to was just answering the question asked. However, the post listing kick return averages shows that your logic is faulty.

Just on this idea only, he made horrible decisions in the OU game. Youd think someone with so many returns would have learned something. Hey, at least he managed to fumble one.

Indeed. It was good to see that in the next game he contributed more to his team's return game than that other team's Heisman candidate could manage.
