Spence "informally" offered OC job

This is a very different situation with Kippy. Alot has changed between the last time we talked about him coming back and now.

A Spence has only been there a few years and there others who want him. I am not saying he is my first pick but to call him a hand me down is xtreme. I just want something new and different. Spence is a solid OC.

Hey everyone, I have been reading this board for the past month or so and have decided it's time to start sharing my opinions. It's good to see some intelligent Vol fans on the message board. GoVolsXtra just turns into the super positive Kool Aid drinkers vs. those that realize our program is in a state of mediocrity and changes need to be made to get us back to being a top tier team.

I guess I'm one of those "young" guys you always talk about as I'm only 24. But I have lived in Knoxville and bled Orange since I was a baby. Some of my first memories involve the AL vs. TN streak of the 80's so apparently I at least understand the relevance of that rivalry. I have my undergraduate and masters degrees from the UT system as well.

Having said all that, do you guys know what "informally offered the job" means? All it means is that we called Spence and said if we were to offer you the job would you take it? It's a method used by many potential employers during the interview process.

IMO, whoever becomes the next OC will bring in 1 or 2 other staff members with them.

Doesn't Kippy have a brother or a son that coaches. Did I read on here somewhere that he might be a consideration for a position coach position. Anyone know anything about him. Maybe I was dreaming or got him confused with someone else.

It is possible we land both Kippy and Spence. A former UT player was saying a while back that Kippy was moving back to Knoxville next year regardless of if he is on the staff or not. He also said that he may not return as an OC, but possibly just a positions coach. Can Spence coach QBs or RBs? He could take OC and QBs or RBs while Kippy takes assistant HC and WRs. Just saying...

that would be awesome if we landed both Spence and Kippy.
that would for sure boost recruiting to land two huge names like that.. and since Kippy is a WR specialist, i dont think anyone would be complaing to much about Trooper leaving, because Kippy is as good as TT at coaching WR's, maybe even better..

and i also wouldnt mind to see sanders come back to the hill, especially if he would just coach the RB's.. or QB's..

I think he has a son in k-ville that is in Medical Sales, don't know about Coaching?

I believe that Kippy has a brother that is a position coach somewhere at the college level.

Haha thanks, I'll keep that in mind. I think for the most part people on this board have superior insight and understanding of the current state of our program. On some other boards it seemed like a bunch of mindless freaks who wouldn't budge on their opinion no matter what. And then the namecalling would begin. I guess what I'm trying to say is that people seem more mature here in regard to their opinions and arguments. I think I'll get along just fine with everyone as I see alot of posts that match how I feel.

But no one has responded to my statement about what informal means. I think there is a little too much speculation here. Asking someone if they would take a job if they were to be offered it is not even close to actually offering the job...

Informal means they are respecting his desire to have order going into bowl game, thus it was not public. Informal = Private

You aren't off to a great start here... I'm familiar with your posts over there.

It is doubtful that the job has been offered. It is just a rumor.

I'm really not trying to pick a fight with you... but if you bring that same sky is always falling attitude over here there are people who will dismantle your supposed "arguments" much faster than they do on Govolsxtra.
