Spence "informally" offered OC job

Clemson's yardage per game this past season:

Florida State - 292
ULM - 503
Furman - 377
NC State - 608
GT - 228
VT - 380
CMU - 656
Maryland - 428
Duke - 350
Wake - 411
BC - 273
S. Caro - 443

So, Clemson averaged 412 yards per game. Against top 40 defenses, they averaged 317. That's a 23% drop. Tennessee had a 6.8% drop. 399/game overall down to 372 against top 40 defenses.

Just saying ...

Actually the Swinney talk has got me excited. It seems like an upgrade if we get both. Although, I would offer the house to bring the guy from ILL.

Illinois' offense was pretty terrible in 2006, Locksley's first year. I'm not 100% sold on him, either.

just read that a "reliable source" on VQ is reporting that Kippy is all but a done deal and that Spence is merely option 2. Kippy is bringing some of his guys with him. We have turned down a few big names(some NFL) to get Kippy. Apparently part of his deal was that he didn't want Trooper. Strong possiblity of Co-OCs, and another possibility of R. Sanders return to the Hill.

If it's not Brent, Rob, or Austin, then its speculation. I think it's between Spence and Brown, but NOTHING is done as of now.

very true. although this guy is rarely wrong with his info. I just wish they'd get on with it(and I know they probably won't until after the bowl). I'm tired of hearing all these rumors about so and so is going to be it. Tomm I'm going to get on here and post that June Jones has decided to quit UH and move to Kville before their bowl game to start as the new OC and install his Run N Shoot offense and see how it does in modern day SEC. Feel free to jump aboard and spread this one.

This sounds good and all, but it doesn't make sense. We've got Spence as option #2, after turning down "a few big names(some NFL)"?

I've already mentioned Kevin Wilson. I have no issue with Chris Hatcher. Kippy Brown is not a bad idea. There are plenty of others, this has just played out as I expected.

Earlier in this thread, you bash the spread offense and then later on you say that you dont have any issue with Chris Hatcher. It seems like you just like to complain to hear yourself complain.

Maybe if you knew anything about Hatcher, I would care what you say. Two, I bashed the idiots who acted like going to the spread is an instant panacea for the program. Try working on your reading comprehension skills before you spout off.

Given that Hatcher's background is the Mumme/Leach system and not the Meyer/Rodriguez/et al spread, your post has no meaning. Try again.

I would like to think so to but if that's the case why are all the candidates "behind the scenes" other than Spence if they did, in fact, go over many of them. It's no secret that Spence is the only name we have heard about getting an interview and now we hear he is getting an offer. You do the math, either they are hiding their other choice or Spence is the first interview and he is getting an offer. What is it?

The NFL season ends this weekend, right? We are in the recruiting silent period, right?

There is no urgency for recruiting right at this moment and no reason to disrupt the end of the season for any of a number of other guys.

My skills are just fine. I agree that formations arent the "end all" of an offense, but just from your post, you bashed the spread. Hatcher runs a form of the spread. That is a fact. Does he run the spread option like Florida or West Virginia? No. But he does run a spread. Your attempt at always bashing people and acting like you are the only authority on football is amusing at best. I do enjoy your posts from time to time and also the interviews with the basketball coaches. Your negativity, ostentatiousness, and aloofness however, are annoying.

I just hope that Kirk isn't the reliable source.

Give me two numbers greater than zero but less than 3 other than 1 or 2. :p

Seriously, I would take him over Kippy Brown as an OC. At least he's called plays and had experience recruiting.

Are you serious thats why UT was dubbed wide receiver U and I think he called plays for the Dolphins on a interim basis.
