Which one. I didn't know there were "types."
It depends on th rookie card.

Say "John Smith" made it to the Show late last season and is considered the big name rookie this coming season. Topps puts their first Rookie card in 2025 Topps series 1 some refer to it as Topps Flagship series. That will be considereal his main RC card but that card may also have color variants, limited number cards and autograph cards, in that release he will also likely have a special sub-set insert card like Topps '1990 (next season) or those awful Stars of MLB.

Then as different card sets are released i.e. Topps Series 2, Topps Update, Topps Chrome, Bowman, Allan & Ginter, Stadium Club etc., etc....would still have cards with the (RC) logo and again with different variations etc..

Been awhile since I've posted in here. To be honest haven't been buying that many sports cards here lately. Just become frustrated with how expensive things have become with the hobby. Really been concentrating here lately on mostly collecting Pokémon cards with my son. I did pick up a few things over the last couple months for my PC.

Jaylen Wright 2024 Donruss Optic - Rated Rookie Red Pandora

Jaylen Wright 2024 Donruss Elite - Rookie Status Blue Explosion /875

Cedric Tillman 2023 Prizm - Orange Disco

Hendon Hooker 2023 Clearly Donruss - Rated Rookie Bronze /75

My nephew is into Pokémon and I'd like to know more about them so I can help him with them.

Is there a way to know what is more valuable or sought after or considered SP or variants? I know some are shiny or chrome are there refractors?

I know I looked at some at the card show Saturday.

I'm meaning when he opens a pack is there away to identify cards that may be more valuable down the road? In sports cards I know to keep an eye out for things like refractors, numbered, short prints etc...

Here is an article breaking down the different types of variants in Pokémon.

The biggest thing sought after now is full art/special illustration rare (SIR)

I pulled this Latias EX SIR from the newest set and it runs for around $250 right now. I sent it for grading.
