I listen to Ainge in the morning and listen to Russell and Terry Fair in the afternoon going home. They are not the best but I can not stand to listen the Hyams.

I can not listen to Doc, Jeff and Heather because it makes me want to find the closest light pole and remove my seatbelt and hit that mother head on. I can not believe how they will comment and try to analyze a game that none of them watched. IT IS YOUR JOB YOU IDIOTS, SPORTS!!!!

I'd guess it's Jeff with all of the ratings and advertising talk, though I thought Heather was the only one that actually knows how to use the Internet. Welcome to the thread, 99.1 morning crew! All 3 of them are numbskulls.

i caught heather harringtons practice report yesterday afternoon.....she flat out said she forgot to ask about injuries. that is completely unacceptable on a professional level.....DO YOUR JOB

Is 1180 as polished as 990.....no.
Is 1180 as wide spread as 990.....no.
Is 1180 currently as popular as 990....no.


With that being said, I'm unsure that 990 has a former UT/NFL qb on staff that can offer the insight that Ainge does.

I also think that the fact that they're not as polished as 990 comes across as much more relatable as opposed to having some old person preach to me for 5 minutes between the 20 minute commercial breaks.

It seems that I could post up to a bar with any of the 1180 crew and just talk sports for a few hours without any issue.

They may not be as popular (currently), but as a recent 1180 convert, I wouldn't discredit their ability to sieze a signifant chunk of the 990 listenership away from them before it's all said and done.

Harrington is there to do nothing but try and be a pretty face and get advertising for them. If she does anything more for them then it's a bonus for them.

They have a show because it is supposed to give listeners a chance to join that discussion and offer their own opinions. they also have WAY too many commercials. I too have heard enough. These guys know everything , makes u wonder why they are stuck in such an unimportant station in life. I like to make my BS opionion known, but I know tht 90 % of what think is based on questionable info.

WNML is absolutely awful from 6-10 am and from 3-7 pm. I refuse to pollute my brain with that garbage.

Just for you guys, I did some investigating. I hated to do it because I didn't want to listen to Heather. So hear ya go. This is what I heard from 7-8 a.m. this morning. Wednesday - the day before Thanksgiving.
Actual show 28 minutes (They took 4 calls in one hour - Jim, W.C. Mark and one other guy)
Commercials 22 minutes
Sports Minute, Traffic & Weather 10 minutes.
I would say that of the 28 minutes the show was live, Heather was talking 18 minutes of those, the rest Mickey and the callers (more Mickey than callers)
7:00-7:03 Commercials
7:03-7:04 CBS Sports Minute with Boomer Esiason
7:04-7:05 Commercials
7:05-7:07 Sports Animal Sports Update with Heather
7:07-7:09 Commercials, Traffic & Weather
7:09-7:17 Doc, Jeff & Heather (1 Caller - Jim)
7:17-7:22 Commercials
7:22-7:24 Sports Minute with Heather & Weather
7:24-7:34 Show (1 Caller - W.C.)
7:34-7:38 Commercials
7:38-7:41 Practice Report with Heather
7:41-7:46 Show (1 caller)
7:46-7:53 Traffic & Commercials
7:53-7:55 Sports Minute with Heather & Weather
7:55-8:00 Show - 1 Caller - Mark

Lets just say, if you plan to listen, get ready for a healthy dose of Heather because with the sports minutes and the callers, you will hear her voice A LOT!!!!!!!! -- I really like Jeff, but I just CANNOT listen to Heather.

I too am a fan of Jeff. I like his approach. He can voice his opinion and not become overly abrasive. He is an Ohio State homer, but I can look past that while he's bookended by those other dolts.

I do not listen to either station anymore. Bunch of bull, Dooley, Dooley , Dooley. Who cares and when the new coach is named, we will all know.Play an old show from years past, as we seem to have the same topic, who will be out new coach and everyone is depressed when it is not J.G.

Im in The Herd between 10-1...Colin is by far thd funniest on radio. 106.3...get tired of the same crap whether it b 99.1 or am1180...and Bacrappio is a Joke!!!!..Josh n Will a distant 2nd

I listen almost daily but the station really makes me want to beat my head against the steering wheel. Its either the old man Jim that calls in during Doc/Jeff/Heather and half the time forgets what he's going to say, or The other Jim who is obviously not from the South and it seems like he reads Wikipedia before calling in (on every show all day long) so he can sound more educated....Just makes me want to run people over. Add that with having to listen to Heather argue with people in the morning telling them their opinion is "wrong" and Will telling us all day long about how Fitness to go or whatever the crap it is has changed his life and he's lost 1000lbs in a month. No wonder road rage is so common in Knoxville.

Also, with the deal with Roger...I can understand where people will want to change the station when he's on. I also understand that for whatever reason the guy has a problem and he cant help that and I wouldnt belittle him or make fun of him over it. However, if John, Jimmy and Dr. Punch are all on the radio....just limit it to "Hey guys" because when you have to say "Hey John"...."Hey Jimmy"..."Hey Doc"......"Hey Guys"......you just took up enough time to go to commercial.

Basillio is an idiot. Between his screeching voice on the commercials he does and throwing crap against the wall in hopes something will stick there is nothing worthwhile to listen to.

Plus, he actually thinks he's good at what he does, and believes he is giving the people of Knoxville a treat by staying in Knoxville and doing his radio show when he could be a big star in a market like New York or Philadelphia.

A legend in his own mind...what little there is.

But, they give roger the red carpet treatment. I've never even been able to get through on the line. I don't know how they make out what he is saying. Even when I can make it out, the question he asks is something so very basic...like "how are the vols gonna do this week?". It's almost as if they want the opportunity to show off how they can treat a stutterer like a "normal" person...like it's for disingenuous and self-serving reasons that they let him on every single day on every single show

The only remotely listenable show on 990 is SportsTalk 180. All the other shows are pure rubbish. I find the Drive on 100.3 entertaining most days. TSR 1180 is great in the morning, best four hours ever spent listening to the radio, and they podcast all of their shows, so you can catch up on shows or segments you missed. I don't have a smartphone, but would be willing to get one just for the TSR 1180 app if it is as awesome as this thread would lead one to believe.
