Spurrier takes another shot at vols

I still don't understand how somebody that grew up less than 1.5 hours from Knoxville (he is from Johnson City) can have this much eternal disdain and petulance for the Vols. I seriously doubt he grew up hating our Vols. I could be wrong but one thing I know is for sure...the feelings are mutual.

Because Tennessee didn't really recruit him because back then, Tennessee ran with the "wing-T" offense which features a running QB (ancestor of the spread/shotgun) and Spurrier was more of a passer.

Always makes me laugh when people post about this whole "running QB" thing just won't work and we need to get to "our roots".

Can't blame Spurrier for always taking shots at UT. He wanted to be a Vol. He could have won a heisman here and been our coach. If that happened, Florida would be Vandy jr. They were nothing before him.

He is entertaining and a good coach.
We are going to kick their asses again this year.

Weren't they still single-wing under Wyatt?...thought they converted to the Wing-T under Dickey. I think he would've signed with Tennessee if they had ran the latter...some of his resentment towards Tennessee had to be from our fans expressing displeasure with his success...including the Heisman.

This is true and he said had they converted earlier he would have played here.
