Spurrier takes another shot at vols

Is this really a "jab" when it is completely true? We have been crushed by Bama over the last several years. It doesn't help us at all to get beat down every year by a western opponent. You can hate Spurrier all you want, but he is rarely talking trash. It's called denial when you discount the truth just because it hurts to hear it.

My first game in Neyland was perfect! We beat South Carolina & especially Steve Spurrier

Spurrier is an old man who is set in his ways. He's always been an arse and always will be one.

Just wanted to drop by and leave the greatest Spurrier gif ever.

Like him or not, he is a living CFB and SEC legend. College football wont be the same when he is gone, so enjoy the time we have with him around. He is a treasure and constantly brings us new quotes to enjoy such as his most recent.........

How did you guys like that 3-4 defense ??
and
we could have played a 6-6 with 12 men on the field and I don't think it would have helped.....

He is unique among all coaches.

Spurrier is to College Football what:

Cale Yarborough was to NASCAR...
Billy Martin was to baseball...
Mohammed Ali was to boxing...
And others that I'd need more coffee to think of...

Those sports ^^^ are less than they were due to their departure. CFB will be the same when Spurrier hangs up his quips...

He is hilarious! When he does retire, he will be missed, and USC will go back to wining six games a season soon thereafter.

Agreed. People that don't like him usually just take him too seriously. I don't see how you could watch his interview at halftime the other night or his post game press conference and not laugh. A lot of the guys around now (Saban for instance) are really boring and act like what they do is most important job in the world and CIA classified.

You right! When he left the gators I was more upset than the gator Faithful! I loved playing him AND the gators.... I hate them both so it made it so much more fun. :eek:k::thumbsup:

Spot on.

Guys like Saban annoy, you don't have to be a miserable SOB to be great at a job. Not sure why so many don't get that.

You are right also.. most coaches now use Obama Methods.. they jabber and jabber but never really say anything. Spurrier at least has a personality.. even if it sucks... and I am glad it sucks we have to find someone to not like :)

The fact that he made just one statement in April about Tennessee ( not really even a bad one) and we are still talking about it is a testament to our love hate relationship with the OBC and I agree, he will be missed . Love him or hate him... The old fart is funny

It's kind of ironic that people like Spurrier's way of throwing his team under the bus, but dislike Dooley. Two very similar presser coaches, IMO.

Some famous Spurrier quotes
Auburn
On a fire at the football dorm that destroyed 20 books: "But the real tragedy was that 15 hadn't been colored yet."
Florida State
On scandal in Tallahassee: "You know what FSU stands for, don't you? Free Shoes University."
Alabama
On recruiting: "In 12 years at Florida, I don't think we ever signed a kid from the state of Alabama ... Of course, we found out later that the scholarships they were giving out at Alabama were worth a whole lot more than ours."

Karma is going to kick Spurrier's arse to the retirement home. Butch is going to slap him into retirement broken hip and all. He is overated these days, hasn't won the east and isn't likely to this year either. The way his team got their arse handed to them the other night he don't need to be talking any smack. And who one last year between the the Vols and gamechickens Steve?? Yeah that's what I thought, the BIG ORANGE!!! GO VOLS!!!!!

He should more concerned about making a solid bowel movement... Lately all of his shat has been coming out of his mouth..

I still don't understand how somebody that grew up less than 1.5 hours from Knoxville (he is from Johnson City) can have this much eternal disdain and petulance for the Vols. I seriously doubt he grew up hating our Vols. I could be wrong regarding his feelings as a kid, but one thing I know is for sure...the feelings are mutual.
