Spurrier to Miami speculation . . .

Guess you want Bruce Pearl fired then? He and Spurrier are two of a kind. It appears that what you want are personality challenged, semi articulate, Hee Haw characters coaching at UT. Well, you've at least got that in football for one more season.

That's a reach! Pearl has class. There is a huge difference in passion and class. Look the 2 up and you will see.

Volbeef chose to attack Spurrier. There are consequences to actions.

He is a schmuck and a classless jerk. What is he doing this week? Crying that the SEC officials are out to get him. Maybe he should go to the land of the black helicopter and coach at bammer. Funny how you come to the rescue of a cryer as long as it affords you a chance to take a shot at OUR coach.

You don't want Spurrier at Alabama. Then they would rip off 9 of the next 11 against us.

I'm defending a winner. If in the course of that, Haystacks Fulmer gets beaten up, so be it.

You've got your opinion. I actually could care less where he goes. If he stays at SC he will go down the drain just like Holtz. Now all his crying is making him look like the little girl he is. He is now being made fun of in the media for is crying about the officials. Win and you can do it. Lose and do it and your just a whinner.

SC has definitely developed a little bit of a reputation for begging for flags.

Their head to head record is? Also, Spurrier has tours at Duke and South Carolina on his resume. TCHFCATUTK has only coached at a ready made football power. TCHFCATUTK wouldn't win 4 games a year at Duke. Spurrier won a conference title there.

His conference title at Duke was as Co-Champ with a 8-4 with losses to South Carolina (27-21), Tennessee (28-6), Virginia (other Co-Champ) 49-28 and Texas Tech (49-21).

Spurrier is a hell of a coach and grew up in Tennessee and played his prep ball there.

That said, there is no way, a Coach of one of UT's biggest rivals is going to be named the head coach at UT. Its a moot point.

He also managed to beat UT with that Duke team. That's absurd. If Duke managed to beat us this year, I'm sure there would be a lot more posters ready to can Fulmer.

Sad to say it, but this thread shows in NEON lights who are the "ROFLMAO @ Spurriurr!!!1 NEVER!!!!! UT ROX LOL!!!!!" mouth-breathers and who are the informed fans that understand how competitive sports actually work.

Oh my God, I'm agreeing with Hat. I'll choke back the vomit and say this--he DOES have an understanding of the fact that as long as a coach runs a clean program, his past comments (keep in mind, Will Rogers said "if you did it, it Ain't Bragging") matter about as much as his waist size does.

Even at the High School level (the level that I coach at), as long as you have DECENT acting kids that don't shoot up the place and keep their grades up, WINNING IS ALL THAT MATTERS. PERIOD. a winning team breaks down SO many walls with fans, administration, and community.

to completely dismiss the idea of Spurrier as HC simply because he's Spurrier is asinine. Trust me, I have NO love for him as a person. But facts are facts--he knows College football, and can win with the right athletes. Athletes that we HAVE at UT.

I'll go one step further--Would we say the exact same things if Bear Bryant was on the market?

Yes Duke did beat the 88 Vols in Knoxville...Vols were 5-6 that year. The 88 Vols lost six straight to start the year...then won the last 5 and went 11-1 in 89 beating Duke 28-6.

What's absurd??? the fact that the Vols lost to a Spurrier coached Duke in 88 and the following year the Vols recovered to beat them or the fact that a 05 Spurrier coached SC beat the Vols (another 5-6 team), the Hawgs and the Gators and in 06 a Spurrier coached SC had losses to the Vols, the Hawgs and the Gators....a SC team that is 5-5

UT had a hard time hiring anyone who wasn't an ex-alum, I cant imagine Spurrier ever being considered.

Spurrier beat the Vols with Duke. That's quite an accomplishment. I shouldn't have even needed to bring it up. The guy knows how to coach, it's inescapably obvious.

Yep...quite the feat beating a 5-6 team with Duke.

For many years Duke was on many a SEC teams schedule. Their overall record against SEC is 52-45-5 with wins over Bama, Auburn, Florida, LSU, Arkansas, Kentucky, Vandy, SC and TN. Yep Duke is just a basketball school

Yes, they are. All those wins in the '30s, '40s, and '50s are really relevant.

Would Duke wins over the Vols in Knoxville in 76 &, 82 be relevant? Probably not......

I guess Florida's tremendous dominance of UT before Spurrier arrived explains why he was successful there. I suppose Lou Holtz is responsible for Spurrier's victory last year.

Spurrier is and has been a great coach, however he is in the twilight of his career. He's over 60. I am not ready to fire CPF, but if was looking for a coaching change, I would be looking at a generation younger.

I see today on ESPN.com that SOS had backed off of his stupid comments about the officials out to get him. What a cry baby and now a coward. If he really thought that was true, he should stand up and ask for change. But he can't and won't because all he is, is a loud mouth punk with no class.
