Spurrier's Comments on Saban

He's dead wrong about Saban. Look how he turned around LSU before Bama.

Yeah. It's so terribly hard to recruit there with all of the state colleges he had to compete with. Such little instate talent as well. Don't know anyone could ever win at that school, seeing as the deck is already stacked against them. He did a hell of a job his last year at MSU though.

that comment about Ga is hilarious. He doesn't care if he's had guys in trouble. It's just a true statement, with a little southern sarcastic jab at a foe.

I'm a Spurrier fan myself, but it's beyond ironic that he made that statement when Richt would've kicked Garcia off the team about two years before Spurrier. Not too mention Spurrier is the king when it comes to randomly suspending players and then re-instating them a week later.

And that's all a part of it. It's spurrier.

Let's see if I get this correctly. Spurrier has one National Championship in 30+ years of coaching. Saban has 3 in the last 7 years he has coached in college. Yep, now I see where the bitterness comes from.

Along with Neyland and Bryant, Spurrier is an SEC god. I highly doubt it's bitterness.

On Richt and moving the Georgia game on the schedule:

“I don’t know. I sort of always liked playing them that second game because you could always count on them having two or three key players suspended.”

This is awesome!

How soon Bama fans forget the doormat years from 1995 to 2006. 11 years is a long time in Bama years

This x1000.

The UT/Bama series has always gone in streaks to one side or another but to hear them tell it they've won every game since 1903.

Spurrier has won at Duke, Fla and USCjr.

Saban has won at Mich St, LSU and Bama.

Now you tell me who had the easier jobs of the two? It's pretty damn simple. Saban left Mich St because he knew he could never compete with Michigan on a yearly basis in recruiting. He took the easy way out and even said so. You can say he's a better coach than Spurrier but he has also had a much easier gig at all 3 stops than Spurrier. I'd call Fla and Bama a draw because they both have their built in advantages.

And for those saying that LSU was a garbage job. Please. Yes, they were down, but they are the only program in the entire state worth a damn. They have a fertile recruiting ground in their backyard. The only reason that program was down for so long was because it was run by idiots and they hired idiots. The same reason Bama went through a dry spell and UT is going through one.

Guess that is why he went to South Carolina,to prove he is a great coach..:)

Yep...and I know I'm gonna get slammed but he's proven it in college over and over...anyone remember he coached Duke to a win over us? Love him or hate him--the guy is a winner anywhere he goes in college...:salute:

This doesn't even matter. The fact the man has won double digit games at South Carolina now multiple times shows how truly great of a coach Spurrier really is/was.

It's remarkable what he has done over there.

Hate to be agreeing with a gator--but couldn't agree more....He's won at SC--a historically bad program with a career record hovering around 50% until he arrived. :salute:

I thought Paul Kuharsky's comments on Nick Saban were pretty funny. "He's a nice little college coach who couldn't cut it in the NFL." Ha.

I think Kuharsky is way too stubborn about a lot of things, but he was dead on with this one. The elite college coaches can't hold a candle to the majority of NFL coaches. So much harder to win consistently in the NFL.
