Squirrel is leaving???

Nah. Opinions are like...well...you know. It's all good. We both want the same end result. Difference being that I don't have faith that this staff as it currently exists can get the job done...and that's on Heupel.
You said he exceeded your expectations this year. How'd he do that with none himself?

NICO THROWS THE LOW BULLET TO THE FRONT OF THE ENDZONE TO WHERE ONLY SQUIRREL WHITE CAN CATCH IT!
SQUIRREL JUMPS 3 FEET IN THE AIR for some reason?
SQUIRREL GETS DEMOLISHED AND THE BALL BOUNCES AROUND IN THE ENDZONE. VOLS LOSE.

I get that but now we have no depth. I guess we’ll raid the portal now? On the other hand this is kind of what happened with the secondary last offseason…I guess.
Players that can’t compete are not “depth”. Other than White, that group dropped more than they caught. I believe the room will be upgraded

They are when your starters are hurt. And almost every starter was hurt towards the end if I recall correctly…Either way time to upgrade.

I don't know what the rest of the comments say. For all the snaps Squirrel White got... he didn't do much at all. He sucks. Cool first name though. Need a major change up of the wide receiver rotation for next year.

The thing that concerns me is the why. This year it's wide receivers leaving. Last year it was a defensive back mass exodus. We use the "they weren't really great" argument as a crutch, hoping it's the coaches planning on upgrading. But what if that's not the case? 2022 our season was derailed by South Carolina and it was later revealed there was problems in the locker room. What if those problems never truly went away?

Wtf does that have to do with him not having any expectations?

Obviously to him staff continuity is important and he thinks he can get it done the way hes doing it. Danny White seems to agree.

You guys say Heupel passed your expectations this year, but he has no expectations himself. Explain that to me.
I think his expectations are to keep continuity -to a fault. I agree with @CAVPUT - you would think in 7-8 years of coaching that 1 coach would not be fulfilling his expectations and would lead to a firing. I would expect it for that length of time in coaching. Maybe I'm wrong, not the first time.
However,he seems to want to lean on loyalty (see Milton 2022) to POTENTIALLY the detriment of better people. Had Milton not gotten hurt,we would not have seen Hooker. I think we can make that same assumption towards the coaching staff.
Just because he's exceeded expectations doesn't immunize himself from scrutiny. It's not beyond scrutiny to expect more from the WR and OLine

Hahaha you don't determine anything. We're getting no replacements. That's what matters and you haven't name anyone. Like I thought.
LOL.

You want to freak out over who we've lost .... but can't name anyone. And now, claim that we won't sign any WR's from the portal? I'm willing to bet that we do. LOL.

You are such a clown.

I dont think our President cares if we win nattys in football. What they do like is the 50-70 million in TV money coming their way. Helps with their nice salaries and homes. Kind of like politicians.
5 years ago this program was a dumpster fire. It’s apparent that’s the goal with current leadership. Just need to get better players.

I didn't say he doesn't deserve scrutiny.

Maybe his way doesn't work in the end, but firing someone doesn't guarantee it's going to get better either. Could get worse. I can remember a time, or 3 it did, but as long as you feel better about it, right?

His way ain't failed yet, unless you call what he's done in the past 4 years failure. Especially after the decade and a half of complete and utter dumpster fire. I have no idea what would have happened, but I'd give my middle nut to see Kirbys 4 years of taking over a mess like this instead of the turnkey situation he inherited.

I agree and almost every aspect. I somewhat agree with his approach of keeping continuity when he inherited such a dumpster fire. The last thing you want incoming recruits to think is this is a continuation of a dumpster fire with revolving coaches. In many ways, I think he's smart to keep continuity. No one said he failed. Quite opposite. He's thrived and brought our program from the abyss of apathy.
That being said, coaches or recruits at specific positions are underperforming. It can always be the recruits. I trust Coach and DW to figure it out and get it right

Something is off man.
Yes it’s kids making their own decisions or being pushed by a family member or someone in their friends network giving poor guidance that the grass is greener. Leaving a top notch program with top notch facilities for more money or catches might not pan out. NFL Scouts aren’t paying too much attention to college stats vs metrics. He could stay here and continue to use top notch training facilities to improve those metrics and work towards getting drafted. A fall back plan is also the network the school provides for former athletes, which might be lesser at a smaller program. The transfer portal is nuts and will only get worse if there are no consequences for switching schools. Many wanted the players to have more power and control over their futures and this is the result watching young kids make their own decisions. I wish him the best of luck but the grass isn’t always greener.

Could he stay? He might have been told he's losing most his $$,going to lose playing time, and chose to step away. I think this decision lends itself to him being allowed to go without making a new offer. Again,he's got TE numbers. 34 catches and 2 TD should not be hard to find.
