Addition by attrition. We saw the same thing with our defensive backfield from last season to this season.

It’s weird how some trolled OSU until they beat us down. Then all of a sudden we don’t have talent, need to hit the portal, yet we have portal players all over the field namely at receiver. Our defensive backfield wasn’t exactly top tier when they faced a semblance of competition themselves. Who knows why all these guys are leaving but usually when the ship is sinking the rats jump ship.

It is not all of a sudden. Compare the number of our 4 and 5 stars to theirs and you will/should understand the talent issue. I remember the 5 star comparison, it was 15 for them to I for us. I have no idea what it will be with all the players graduation and leaving. I guess we won't know until around July.

Not an insider but I do know someone close to the athletic department and he’s saying it’s all about the money.
Other teams offering him more money. Kind of pisses me off that kids are getting offers while trying to prepare for a playoff game but that’s the world we live in. Given his injury history, lack of production on the field and situation right now I don’t blame him at all. Hate to see it happen during the season but the guy played through injury a lot for us, I hope he makes a good bit of money.

For us? Idk if it’s a good thing or not but we’re going to be forced to see some new faces at the WR position and i don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing.

That was part of the House v NCAA settlement. About $2.8B in backdated NIL for former players.

Maybe if Squirrel plays somewhere else next year and has a good year it might just mean that he’s healthy because he wasn’t the entire season.
He’s had problems staying healthy for awhile. Pretty sure there is a plan to bring in a new crop just as we did with the DB’s and all these receivers who left knew it. The DB’s were certainly an upgrade over what we had. I’ll be curious to see if they can do the same thing with the receivers. They certainly need to.

Whit has said he is looking to get closer to home and that will play big part of where goes. He is from Birmingham and I can see him playing at UAB. He won’t go to Bama or Auburn and be buried on depth chart. Be in same situation as he is in now.
