Staley Seeking Waiver For T'ea Cooper

Same thing happened at Duke with Azurá Stevens and she had to sit out. The girls that transferred from Kentucky all had to sit out amid mistreatment claims. So that’s 5 players right there the NCAA said no too wait your time! If you read Shepard’s actual comments she said she wasn’t going to reach her “basketball goals” at that school and there were no real issues. So that doesn’t fit this circumstance.

The difference is Matthew Mitchell is still coaching Kentucky, Joanne Palombo-McCallie is still coaching Duke, but Connie Yori RESIGNED from Nebraska at the end of the 2016 season and the school then hired Amy Williams, who did not recruit Shepard. It’s not the same thing.

How is it not? A transfer is a transfer.... which means you sit out. Doesn’t matter if there is a coaching change. She also played under the new coach instead of transferring when the new coach took over. There is no justification for her playing other than the NCAA made a boneheaded decision.

Yeah, but she had a chance to transfer right after that and decided to stay at the school with a new coach.

Doesn't matter, my point is the NCAA almost always grants this waiver if the coach leaves and/if there is some sort of controversy with the coaches treatment of players. This isn't special treatment or a one-off deal.

She never played under the new coach at Nebraska. The NCAA grants these waivers to give immediately eligibility in cases like this all the time on both the men's and women's side.

SC players are banned from social media during the season so it's shouldn't be a problem for her.

If tea spent as much time studying as she did making creepy Instagram stories, she would be on the Deans List. I cannot imagine dawn staley is happy with that silly behavior

She played under the NEW COACH LAST YEAR DURING THE 2016-17 season... Incase you need clarification here is the link stating her stats and even that she completed her TWO YEAR Nebraska career...

If this was the case, then why did ND wait until the end of August to put in for the waiver - the SAME exact time the decision for Turner to redshirt was made.
Sheperd transferred to ND in June!

Any reasonable person sees the truth in this matter.

We all know that Shepard played 29 (and started) every game.

My bad. Looked at hire date wrong. Bottom line is I'm sure they factored in the Yori situation and who knows what else. We don't know the circumstances and probably never will. Not our business, but they DO grant these waivers often especially on the men's side. Anyway, who cares, quit crying, and let her play.

Maybe Te'a needs to get her grades up first...that could be a reason for the delay.

Lol it’s mid semester, class basically got deep a month ago? I would hope she’s not a poor enough student to fail a summer session course.... those are meant to be easy GPA boosters haha.. I took all of my hardest classes during the summer.

I can’t imagine she’d struggle that badly when they have private tutors for student athletes and the courseload is manageable.

No bottom line is that it’s BS when others have had to sit out... I don’t care if she plays or not and not crying but right is right and wrong is wrong. If that’s a problem then you should probably follow a team Pat Summitt didn’t coach because she was all about doing what was right not only for the game but across the board .

She was definitely on the bench for Texas A&M, she obviously couldn’t travel with the team to Ole Miss game.

I did not see her on the bench during the Texas A&M game ???
she was there on the bench. Every time the camera panned the bench she made sure she was in the picture. Gave Wilson a big ole hug when she scored game winning points.

When do you say “ok, not going to waste possible 15-20 games instead of getting her for a whole season”? She can practice all she wants and gives them another body but it will take her some games to get into game mode and against SEC teams I don’t know if that’s the best time. If this was ND at this point then yes they need bodies SC I would seriously weigh this option. School may not also be her thing though she may may not stick around for a possible two years.

She loses the time anyway. If she doesn't get approval, she has 2 years of eligibility vs. possibly getting another 1/2 season on top of that if the waiver is approved.
