Staley Seeking Waiver For T'ea Cooper

I'll be anxious to see Cooper although I don't believe Dawn coaches any better than Holly. I think Cooper is going to be a six turnover a game type player. I don't think she'll be happy if she is not getting 10 plus shots per game. Will be interesting to see her SC career.

Based on her records, Dawn is a better player and Coach than Holly!

I would post a link to the USCe women's basketball message board, but they do not have one.

Perhaps you can get on one of the USCe men's basketball boards and tell them how much of a better player and coach Dawn is.

I'm a little surprised Cooper didn't get the waiver. I'm not saying she should have but figured the NCAA would grant it. The rationale by Dawn makes sense and I think she had a case but the NCAA has never exactly been the most logical organization.

Cooper didn't look great at UT but she wasn't bad. The whole chemistry was off for that year and I'm not sure it was all the fault of DD and Tea. She can help SC but I'm not sure she will be a star.

Even if she's not a star, she's better than Victoria Patrick. SC has no guard depth, and they've been forced to play Patrick more than I'm sure they'd ideally like to.

I also have my doubts about people conveniently blaming DD and Te'a for the teams mediocre performances last season. We're seeing the same thing thing this season. Their early season success probably has more to do with playing a bunch of cupcakes than fixing team chemistry.

I wish Cooper and other former LADY VOL who had transferred to other universities great success.

Id don’t know about mediocre success but this team CLEARLY likes each other more than its predecessors... you can tell it in their body language, when things get rough they come together, last year you didn’t see LV runnif over to pick others up off the floor or even really pat them on the head and say it’s ok. Also look at their actions in the post game conferences... even after a loss they seemingly have each other’s backs. Seems less “clique” to me.

Dawn would have known sooner if she would've applied sooner. It's usually 50/50 with the NCAA.

I think Dawn had to wait for the end of the fall semester to apply because she needed to make sure that Cooper would be academically eligible.

Dawn probably chose to wait so she wouldn't have to submit UT transcripts. Cooper's suspension/probation would have been noted on her official UT paperwork. Holly and UT did Cooper a huge favor by not publicly releasing the reason for her transfer and allowing her to transfer without restrictions.

Not a single Lady Vol fan would complain if CHW had the same SC coaching record as Dawn Staley. Remember, she has won a NC! Everyone would say CHW is a good but not great coach that is continuing the legacy of CPS.

And at what point are we suppose to start saying this? Warlick continuing the legacy of Summitt seems like a guy who can't even string a guitar continuing the legacy of Stevie Ray Vaughn. And though that seems harsh, I never heard Pat Summitt EVER saying, "I don't know" after one of her teams played disorganized.

The team's performance this year has been so much better than last year it's not worth debating, if for no other reason than consistency. We played a bunch of cupcakes last year as well, we just didn't always make them look like cupcakes.

She had to reach the FF to win the championship in 2017 😉

Besides, does it make that much of a difference in the argument?

(You ever type something & know exactly what someone's gonna reply? Lol. )

True, but then saying 2 F4 & a Natty sounds like 3 trips to the F4 doesn't it?

And it does make some difference in the argument. It gives Dawn more credibility to many folks if you said 3 F4s not 2.

What seems to happen is that HW's accomplishments get minimized, while other coaches seem to have their faults ignored by the fahr Holly folks.

Dawn was successful to get a couple of SC players to stay home & then was wise to take those top transfers & mesh them with her team. The transfers were what really led to the title.

Yes I have heard Pat say this directly to me. I was talking to her in Little Rock at the tourney when the fab five freshmen or whatever people called them were playing. I was asking here why did they do this or that and in between licks on her ice cream cone, she said "I don't know. I can't figure out why this bunch doesn't do" so and so. People have selective memories. I've heard her tell Mickey Dearstone many times she didn't know why such and such a player did something or wouldn't do something.

She may have said that...But the general feelings of the consensus was, She Knew!

She also knew when to let it be known "she knew"... This is what made Pat a winner.
She knew.

I think I will take her word for it when she said "I don't know". She wasn't one to say what she didn't mean.
