Stand-Up Comedy

Watched Brad Williams "Fun Size" special on Showtime over the weekend. He's a scream...makes tons of little person/dwarf/midget jokes. I'd never heard of him but thought he was great...fiancée even thought he was good.

Guys is there anybody with a clean performance anymore ? By clean I mean watch it with my kids...absolutely no profanity or innuendo. When I was a kid Bill Cosby had a hilarious routine that was totally clean ...is that a thing of the past.

Gaffigan and Brian Reagan

Tim Hawkins is freakin hilarious.

Gaffigan has some really funny stuff out there with only mild innuendos.

I saw a couple of comedy shows at Bonnaroo, and while short on time I enjoyed Nick Thune and Chris Hardwick. I missed Ralphie May and Big Jay Oakerson due to music conflicts.

Louis CK makes me laugh so hard. Brian Regan and Jim Gaffigan are great too

The last 15 minutes of CK's "Hilarious" might be the funniest bit ever. Have to be a parent to get the full effect.

From what I've read, Last Comic Standing should be good again this year.

Russell Peters is out and Norm is replacing him.

JB is out and Jeselnik is the new host.

His bit on hating Deer may be my favorite 4 minutes in standup. I also greatly enjoy his logic and use of racial and homosexual slurs that he did in America being ******* for not just saying the words instead of putting the burden on others.

I like Jeselnik, so long as he's allowed to be a crude ******* on the show. Otherwise, I think it will lose the one thing he's good at.

If you really do like stand up comedy, check out the KILL TONY podcast. It's a show where they let rookies get up and do a minute at an open mic night and they critique the set.
Lots of big-name guys are on there to critique.

I'm visiting my sister in NYC. She has all the hookups. I got into the Comedy Cellar last night. The acts were great. It's everything they say it is. I briefly met Dave Attel and hung out with Jeff Ross for a bit. I even got a laugh out of him (probably humoring me). It was a great time.

He was probably laughing at you, not with you.

Tried out Kill Tony and it's freaking great. I saw Redband and Tony at a Doug Loves Movies taping in Vegas last year (a lost DLM episode) but had never listened to his podcast.

He's got great guests and it's a ton of fun. I've heard 4 or 5 so far, mainly with guests I like. Now I'm hearing some returning guests and ongoing jokes...good stuff.

Thanks for posting this one.

Side note: I'd love to visit the Comedy Cellar sometime. Sounds like a great time. Shaking hands and meeting those guys would have been fun.

I met those guys because they came to me because who i was with in our group, but most anybody could have approached Jeff Ross. He is not that famous so he likes meeting fans. All the comics hang out at the Olive Leaf above the Cellar when they aren't on stage (1 show = about 8 10-minute sets). There is a table designated for the comics which i wouldn't recommend approaching, but they hang out and float around the room cause even their GFs don't get to sit at the table.

Yeah, I imagine if you want to say hi to any of the folks around there on a given night it's cool. They are regular people working for a living. Haven't met many comedians that weren't happy to shake a hand and say hello.

1 up and comer i saw that night who i really liked was Mark Norman. Never heard of him but he was great.

One interesting thing about the cellar is its run by this sweet old lady who can be a hardass. She was Israeli army and does not forgive when a comic fails to make a show. Even pretty well established guys can't get away with it. They all butter her up like crazy and keep her staff happy. It's an interesting dynamic. She just hangs out at the comic table all night.
