Because Jedi haven't been around for like 60 years, half the galaxy think they're just an overblown story. A sad devotion to an ancient religion. The rest still thinks they're bad guys due to the Empire's propaganda.

Even in the original movies the Empire folks scoffed at Vader in regards to the force..until he force choked them..

I'm not even sure that Finn will know how to use the force in this upcoming film. Something tells me that he'll just be carelessly using his lightsaber to fend off Kylo Ren. That's the vibe that I get.

I'm thinking he will be very Luke like in A New Hope. He'll be an obvious noob but have his moment heroic moment using the Force to save the day.

It's kind of funny how the toys and posters for NH always featured Luke welding a lightsabre but he only fired it up twice in that movie. Once when Obiwan gave it to him and once on the Falcon while training.

In the new PS4/Xbox game Battlefront you play as either the Rebels or the Empire. If you get the right power-ups on the Battle of Hoth mission, you can play as Vader or Luke.

Luke is in all black wielding his green lightsaber. Drives my Star Wars OCD crazy.

One of the things I loved about Battlefront 2. They got the outfits and music right. Luke on Hoth wore his pilot suit. Darth Vader on Mustafar wasn't in his Vader suit. He was still Anakin.

I watched the trailer to that game. The parts with Vader entering the hanger on both were pretty awesome. I love seeing Vader be a bad azz.

For all intents and purposes, shouldn't Luke be a complete bad*** and have the ability to throw Kylo Ren around like a rag doll?

I have to make this reference because it's the only thing I feel will be appropriate for his "start" with the force but I'd say he'd at the least be close to Anakin pod racing, because otherwise there'd be no way his reaction times would be good enough to fight a Sith. Especially not with him being a Storm trooper. They're training probably made him a worse aim than when he started.
