Star Wars: Episode VII (December 18, 2015) ***SPOILERS***

He's no Jedi.

You're right in the sense that he's not trained in force to the level of Jedi knight or even Padawan for that much. Like I said in a previous post, there's only one Jedi in the whole movie and he didn't even say a word.

But if you're trying to say he's not force sensitive then offer
one single piece of proof to back up your claim that he's 100% not force sensitive.

Finally saw it this weekend and loved it.

I'm really hoping Snoke is Plagueis.

And I didn't think Kylo Ren's angst was over the top, much less Whiny than Anakin and even young Luke.

I know because I know Star Wars. You apparently need re watch the movies or read some of the books and then you will understand.

You tell me which book to read and I'll go read it and report back, since you're too busy to give us some background that we've all not accounted for.

There are only like a dozen books and some comic series that are considered canon now. I'm not sure what he's referring to.

Are people really arguing that Finn is a full-fledged Jedi?

People like me are insinuating that Maz' comments about seeing the same eyes in other people are opening the door to the assumption that Finn is a relative of someone we've met before. As a person who has only seen the films, I'm led to believe that the family from which Finn was removed was a close relative to either Mace Windu or Lando Calrissian, the only two black characters of consequence.

Is he full-fledged Jedi? Possibly? Possibly not?

I'm just not willing to believe that it was mere luck that he was the first good guy to wield a lightsaber in TFA.

Am I right in my assumption that, if Finn ISN'T at least Force-sensitive, he'd be the first non-Force-sensitive good guy in the 7 films to wield a lightsaber?

Nah. Just that there is a possibility, if he's related to one of the two black characters.

I understand we're just arguing semantics, but please stop referring to Finn as a possible "Jedi."

Sure it's possible that he's force-sensitive, but a Jedi has gone through training and reached the status of "Jedi."

As this happened a long time ago, it's very possible that by now, he is, in fact, a "Jedi"

Well yeah, Rey isn't a Jedi by that definition. I think they're just saying he has a possibility of potentially being one some day if he is related to one of the two well known black characters in the series.

Depends... Are you counting Han disemboweling a Tauntaun as "wielding" or not?

Han Solo in TESB; though not in combat.

Anyway, I have now see it 3 times, and each time I have noticed something else in the movie.

Yes, there are many references to the OT, specifically Episode IV, but as a fan since I saw my first movie AT the movies with my dad when Return of the Jedi came out in 1983, those references didn't bother me one bit. They were perfect nods, and this movie delivered in every other aspect as well.

IMO, it is right up there with the OT, even surpassing ANH for me.

I absolutely loved the references to the OT. I thought the movie was perfectly done and wasn't disappointed in any way. Looking forward to the next two episodes.

the saber battle wasnt dissapointing in the slightest, why Kylo Ren was such a *****? And why for the love of pete, no Captain Phasma?

Rey might already be a Jedi, but had her memory wiped or suppressed. If so it might explain why she was so adept with the force.

Maybe because he was living in the shadow of his grandfather struggling with staying on the path to the dark side. He's supposed to be an angsty young adult and he played it perfectly imo.

My brother had an interesting theory. Luke and Capt. Phasma had Rey....and when all his pupils got murdered he assumed that phasma and rey were killed as well. With all the hate that would come from exacting revenge he had to go into exile for fear of being consumed with the Dark Side. Phasma escaped the massacre with rey and left her on the planet with the scavenger. Then she infiltrated the first order to keep an eye on them and to keep them away from finding Rey.
