I've actually watched TPM a couple of times with my kids recently. It's not as bad as I remember. The pace is actually quite good up until they arrive on Corscant. Then there is a lull where my kids zone out and we end up turning it off. LOL.

The kids (4.5 and 3) love Quigon and Obiwan. They like kid Anakin a lot too because they are kids and relate to him I'm sure. The pod race is just a fun scene too. They are pretty indifferent to Jar Jar although they like the part where Quigon catches his tongue at the dinner table.

Looking back,the Jedi Council is a bunch of pricks. They could barely be bothered with meeting thIs slave boy Quigon rescued. Mace Windu even rolls his eyes. No wonder Anakin turned to the Dark Side.

As much flack as Lucas takes for the prequels he did try to be original.

I watched all six prior to seeing TFA. The prequels really aren't quite as bad as everyone makes them out to be. I was 9 when TPM came out and enjoyed it as a kid. The prequels didn't age well and could've been so much more and had tons of potential but just failed to live up to our hopes. Jar jar, the droid voices, midichlorians all of it together was just too much.

Right now, I enjoy watching Revenge of the Sith more than any other Star Wars movie. Not because I think it is the best, but because it's the freshest of the 6, is dramatic, and quickly paced.

Saw this for the second time at the theater yesterday.

Key take aways:

Carrie Fisher's upper lip never moves..its weird.
Rey is kinda hot
Finn gets reckt
The.Republic.Is.Destroyed.Gone.Kaput.
Maz was awful
Kylo Ren is a bad dude
Poe Dameron is a bad dude
Han is dead brah..dead.

Even in 2016, I think all CG characters still look too fake. From Yoda to Jar Jar to Gollum to Snoke to Maz. The pinnacle of fake creatures that I buy into being real are still Empire Yoda and ET. Both masterpieces in puppetry. Empire Yoda is so amazing.

What? That toon was worse than Carrie Fishers stiff upper lip..Not only was the CGI garbage the acting was days old garbage.

And the Republic is absolutely gone. Its not only shown in the film but referenced several times how The Republic is gone. I've wondered why people haven't been able to grasp that...

Yep. CG people and creatures still mostly suck. Especially the Orcs in the Hobbit movies 😣 But most cities, large crowds, buildings, mountains, explosions, etc are CG and we don't even realize it. And yes, nothing beats good puppetry like ET and Yoda.

They THINK it's gone but books and the like outside of the movie flat out say that only some of the Senate was on Hosnian Prime and it was only a home defense fleet that was destroyed.

And I agree, Maz was...not great.

I thought she was pretty hot but on my second viewing I realized that she never changes clothes until the very end which got me to thinking about how bad she must stank.

Ah don't know anything about the books. When you watch the planets get blown up you see a fleet of ships go up with em.

Having the whole Senate on one planet I can kind of understand...but having the entire Republic Starfleet in orbit would not be smart. Even Coruscant before and during the clone wars never had the entire fleet at home.

So I took from the movie after a second viewing that the Senate is gone. Kaput. Again some say the books say otherwise but I dunno. All I read was Aftermath and it was one of the worst books I have ever read. The movie does show a ton of ships in orbit get #rekt. The whole fleet? Doubtful. Most of it? Yeah. The Hosian System was totally destroyed though..

Also the First Order wasn't based at StarKiller so they got some more up their sleeves as well.

Looking forward to Kylo Ren in the next movie. Probably getting a new mask since his face is now f'ed up. And more training? Hell that guy was pretty good with the darkside already. I do wonder though will we ever see the quick moves/jumps of the force users from the prequels?
