Star Wars: Rogue One

Forrest Whitaker reprised his roll as Saw Gerrera on the mid season premiere of Rebels this past weekend. Although I thought he looked kinda young for the place in the time line with respect to Rogue One. He didn't appear to have robo legs yet either.

While it's easy for the semi-hardcore fans to grasp, I think jumping around the timeline is going to hurt the franchise some in the future. Ive had several casual movie goers ask my when this takes place, then their eyes glaze over even when you give them the simplest answer of "just before the original one with Luke".

Nah..casual fans suck.

As long as they keep it quality storytelling and not just churn out crap because they know it will sell, I'd like to see other standalone movies to fill in gaps or tell other parts of the story.

Keep them simple and don't try to match the grand scale of events that are happening in the trilogies.

There's really no excuse for someone not knowing something that simple. If you want to know, go look it up...and then punch yourself for not liking Star Wars earlier.

Casual fans also fill theatres.

Quality will be the key. I don't really doubt Disney is capable of that. But it's different than Marvel. Casual fans know each movie takes place after/around the same time as the previous Marvel film (although Spider-Man on reboot #3 could getting confusing).

I think Rogue One was actually an easy sell with the premise tying directly into Ep IV. The real test is going to be how a recast Han Solo is going to go over.

I would like to see a Boba Fett stand alone movie before Han Solo. Plus I'm not sold on Alden Ehrenreich being the right choice, but that might be because I don't know enough about him yet.

Picked up the novelization for this yesterday and just finished it. I think it added some depth to the movie, especially the final battle scenes. The character it really helped flesh out was Admiral Raddus, by the end of the book I felt he was great character. Too bad he died at Scarif or the Alliance would have had two bad arse leaders in Ackbar and Raddus (which was was the superior though?).

Did you read Catalyst?

Downloaded a digiti copy and plan to watch the whole movie Fri night.

Had to watch the Vader scene in slow mo as soon as it finished. He is one bad SOB.something indidint notice the first time around is when he force pins the one guy to the ceiling, after he walks under him he does a back handed slash and cuts him in half.
