it is as simple as this question and answer from Hubbs.
Based on what you are hearing, what would you say are the top 2 reasons the Vols are missing out on bigger-name recruits so far? Uncertainty of Staff? Hostessgate? Low potential of winning in short term? Thug image? A strong recruiting class last year?
I think the concern of not winning in the short term and the concern of just not knowing this staff and what they can do are the two biggest factors. We are very much in a show me kind of world. Talk only gets you so far.
this is why things could improve on recruiting front as season goes along. I'm not saying from a win and lose games standpoint as to recruits seeing what this staff can do.
Wilcox is a total unknown in this region. Recruits assessing what the defense looks like this year will be huge. Right now, they have no clue no matter what they are being told.
It's a very good point and it happened last year to a tangible extent. This very well could be the case. I do not see it helping "exponentially" however.
But the caliber of players we have recruited up to this point is very disappointing. Some of these guys will undoubtedly end up All-SEC type players, but your odds are much better with better rated talent.
I understand it's a process, but if Kiffin was able to convince high-profile kids to come to UT then we already know it is possible. Unless this recruiting class takes a real turn, it appears that we will be forced to rely on under-vauled players to build our future team upon and please do not delude yourself, that will make it nigh impossible to compete with the Floridas and Alabamas.
This is not an evaluation of our coaching or recruiting abilities, merely a sobering examination of where we are as a program right now.

Plain and simply this class is disappointing..
I've laid low on recruiting this year, but from everything I've read.. We are going to have a pretty dismal recruiting class unless we come out and suprise kids during the season....
Taking commits from the likes of Saulsberry and that Posey kid.. Both are an extreme reach and a troubling sign to have them on board this early..
if you think any of those guys are close to 2 stars you might want to get your head examined
Because I've played football, been around the program my whole life, been around football my whole life and I've seen these kids video..
If you honestly think this kid will be all-world here at UT, Then please pass what you are smoking..
