As long as the Vols don't lose any Spring games, I'll be happy.

Sounds like a return of the Miami Dolphins Smurfs (most of you are too young to remember). But, I'd be willing to bet two of the starting WRs will be taller than 6'2" and weigh more than 200 lbs.

The "smurfs" played for the redskins.

Regardless, it looks like we're going to have a 6 or 7 man rotation at receiver. I've personally heard Pig has been really solid so far, I think he'll be a standout this year. Croom I have no doubt will become a stud, Carter and Blanc are solid, Bowles certainly has the talent to be a top target but I haven't heard much. It seems like they're really trying to get Harris to step up, DY certainly should prove a pretty potent in the slot with how quick he is, and Dallas showed flashes last year so I'm looking for good improvement from him.

Once North gets on campus and can practice I expect him to quickly become a standout. He was certainly, in my opinion, one of the best WR's in this class.

Jacob Carter's name made the rounds last spring and is popping up this spring. Is this kid going to make some noise?

He got some quality playing time in games last year. He will be a contributor. Probably won't be a starter come fall, but he will get some touches.

What a stupid post. None of these guys will start. Croom, Bowles, Howard, Young, North, Harris will all be ahead of Blanc once Fall rolls around. I think it's great that some of our fans think the white dudes have more "heart" than the others, but I can guarantee you they don't have the play-making ability you need to start every down in the SEC. Nothing against the white receivers, but you're crazy if you think those will be our starting 3.

You think the OP's post is stupid? You make it sound like we are practicing the blacks against the whites. This isn't 1960 please leave race out of the conversation.

Doesn't matter - it will be Howard, North and Bowels in the fall.

Dont be so sure this isnt Dooley and Staff. Who the hell is Bowels? Will be Croom, Blanc, Howard, Young, Carter and North in the 2 deep if I had to guess.

This isnt Dooley and Co playing faves. Jones and his staff will play the guys performing and playing the best. No matter color, age and definitely no favorites like the previous staff.

I'm not doubting their ability to catch in traffic.

I'm more worried about their ability to get off physical man coverage and get open. That's not such a big deal in the slot, but if on the outside, you have to have physical wideouts. Blanc might have that, but I've seen Carter and Young, and I don't think they can. JMO.

Carter and Blanc are both physical and could do it. Young is a slot guy for that reason. Croom and North will do well with their size and strength on the outside. Not hearing anything on Bowles.

Bowles is a complete mystery. He was highly recruited, yet he's never mentioned in post-practice reports or seen in practice videos. I read somewhere that the level of competition he faced in HS was dismal, so maybe it's taking longer for him to adjust? What do you guys think?

One more mention of all white starting WR's and I'll kill you! LOL

:dance2:

Croom, Browles, Howard, Young, Carter, North, Blanc will all play a lot. We are deep and talented at WR, O-line and RB. Offense will be great, any Defense and we will win a lot and that means holding teams to 20-24 pts or less.

Not sure if serious. Where's the outside threat? Where's the fade?

My guess is at this point, route running, hands and "understanding the offense" are most important. We obviously have bigger, stronger, more athletic WRs on the roster, gonna be up to them to earn their spots.

I saw Paul Harris up close the first spring practice. Looked like a physical beast, big, fast, pretty explosive. However, the just took #1 from him and gave him #91 til he earns it back. They're sending the WRs a message that they have to commit to improving before they can play.

North was one of the top rated WR's in the class, top 2-3 if not the top.

Agree, should have substituted Croom for Bowles - see above post.

He seems to have the physical attributes. I know when he was being recruited some thought he may end up on D. Really expected to hear more out of him by now. Of course J Wade was a highly recruited WR because of his speed but his hands were terrible and ended up a decent secondary guy. So i dont know if its Dre's inability to catch consistently or if he cant pick up the offense.

Why isn't anyone mentioning Vincent Dallas he's always reminded me of denarius Moore, Moore didn't really break out until sr year. Is Dallas a jr or sr?
