Like I said. You guys can view sports as a form of tribal identity. I view it as pure entertainment. So when it no longer entertains I no longer pay attention.

For example I used to watch the Lakers a lot from 2000-2013. Then Kobe got old and the team started to suck, now I don't waste any time following them because watching a 60 loss team aint fun.

We'll please don't go to any UT games and take up a seat for a real UT fan and when we win big this season don't celebrate with us. To each their own

I'd ignore him but people quote the garbage he posts. I'll never understand being a Fairweather fan UT is a part or me I could never turn on them and shut them out. He's a fraud wish he'd go root for Bama.

You do realize that most likely nobody on here played for the Lakers, but some of us did actually attend UT? I've also never been one to feel like you had to attend a school to be a fan. Because I became a fan of UT at the age of 9. 31 years ago. Long before I ever took a class there. But I have zero respect for fans who jump from good team to good team. You think that's ok, fine. That's your opinion. But maybe let the real fans talk and shut up. Go to a site where all great teams are discussed. Start your own site. Ask your mom for some start up cash. Or maybe just tell her happy meals are a little more expensive now and save up that way. But stop acting like you're an authority on UT football.


Oh man, I got to stop talking to this guy. I've become the crazy one.

1. I hate Alabama.

2. I didn't choose Tennessee. I grew up here and was introduced to college football with the 98 national title.

3. The only difference between me and the "die hards" is I don't waste my time watching my favorite team when they suck.

I've never been a fan of other teams. Just don't care about my team when they suck.

I understand not wasting thousands of dollars gping to games if they're bad but blatantly not even supporting them during their down years is ludicrous

Please tell me what I misses during the Dooley years? Did I miss a ton of great memories?

Maybe you enjoy being dragged through crap. I don't. I've got better stuff to do than watch Tennessee get skull dragged around the field by Alabama 45-10.

And that's what it was like here from 2008-2014.

It's makes the glory years feel that much better when we get there. It makes me feel good that I stuck around through the bad and never gave up on them. I'm a firm believer in if you don't stick around during the worst you shouldn't be around during the best. But to each their own at least you hate Alabama

You missed the point entirely since I said that doesn't matter to me. Not near as much as the fact I've pulled for them for 30 years now.

You should move to Europe. Follow soccer. See how that switching teams poser thing works out over there.

Your handle just made me think that he also missed out on one of the greatest players to ever wear the orange. But I'm sure he was still breaking down Eric Berry's tape preparing for the draft.

The ascent from bad to mediocre to (hopefully) good has been a meaningful experience for me as an adult sports fan. There are lessons about success to be learned from the football Vols from 2005 to present.

I'll be a bigger fan with every passing day even if they never win another game. This is the most important unimportant thing in my life.

It is kind of odd that Butch was cleaning up with instate recruits when he first came here but now seems to be struggling with them. Anyone have any theories as to why?
