One thing has got to present itself in the 06 season. Improvement. If we look no better offensively in Dec than we did at seasons start my friends it is time to scrap that 30 year old, over-exposed, 8 play system everyone on the hill has subscribed to for decades. Along w everyone, regardless of "family relationship" associated with it.

You LexVol and I make three and unless I missed it, we are the only ppl here with any real and clear view of reality.

Fulmer BETTER "pull it together" otherwise he'll be push apart!

Please let's get REAL & not accept what has become an all together lazy football team directed by an all together lazy offensive staff.

i agree with most of what you say jake. hopefully fulmer will turn us around this year and i will be the first to admit i was wrong if he does. after last year though i'm so negative i can't stay positive at all.

it's not about being right or wrong....i think there's a lot of similarities in how most of us think....pro or anti fulmer....the reasons for why this program is down in the dumps right now are not really in dispute.

I'm just tired of all the fulmer bashing. and by bashing, i mean the Phil comments, the too busy in line at the buffet comments etc.....and no to mention for having an opinion o/t "fire Phill IMMEDIATELY" you are considered a sheep with no real thought process or labeled a follower, and that these individuals, whom, i think if more spoke up, would find out they are greatly outnumbered, are on some higher plane of thought because the have the "courage", so to speak, to openly critisize CPF. WE ALL have critisized CPF.

But what has started to happen is that these so called Vol faithful have started to read more and more like Bammers and gators the way they speak about thier HC.

And i for one am just not going to do it. While he's here, he's here and i will continue to support him. That does not mean that i, or anyone else with similar opinion for that matter, view him as diety or whatever....it simply means that he's our guy, and until it proves not to be working at all anymore, he gets the opportunity to fix it. That's it. I really don't understand the hatred of CPF from some of the people on here? Is he perfect? NO. Have i ever questioned something he did on or off the feild? YES. Have i ever said "what the hell are you doing Phil?" yes.

But to resort to calling him names and sinking down to the levels of other teams' fans ridiculing OUR OWN COACH, i just won't do it. Nor will I view those that disagree wtih me as "goobs" "sheep" "kool aid drinkers" or any thing else.

you want to get in to a discussion, and have actual valid points and ideas, great, i'm your guy. which you did in your original post. If not, i got no use for you.

Now let me get on my soap box.... in 2004 UT was coming off of a good football season with two good QBs, and every one returning at skill positions. In 2005 UT won their bowl game convincingly and had its best recruiting year overall in several seasons.

Given those factors, 2005 was not just a bad year. Last year was the perfect time for UT to play well, finish nationally in the top ten, and spring board themselves onto the national stage for a title run in '06. How might you ask...well Ainge would be developed and have a full year of experience under his belt, not to mention the fact that the stellar recruiting class from 05 would be ready to contribute in earnest as well.

Instead......we begin the rebuilding process. That is frustrating. Even more so when you consider everything that was riding on the Vols last season. It was not like they had just lost half the team to the NFL and were rebuilding.

Last year was no bump in the road, it was a disaster. Now there is a lot of work to do.

and i don't disagree with you, except that in 04 we were not expected to do much at all (picked to finish 3rd in the East), because we had two freshmen qb's and there were some ? marks at the skill positions. in fact 04 was looked upon as the building year, and 05 was supposed to be exactly as you described, and ended exactly as you described....

Again, i don't disagree with anyone on what's wrong with the program. I don't disagree with anyone on why it happened. I don't disagree with who's fault it was. I don't disagree that CPF has major work to do.

But having said all that, he still, in my eyes, has earned the right, by virtue of 13 previous years of winning football, to fix a mess he created...and he should get that opportunity to do that w/out being ridiculed, not just critisized, by TN's own fans. And further more, i'm just a bit sick of people being labeled a sheep or whatever for taking such a stance....

that's all...i don't know why that's so hard for people to understand.

I need to find a pic of our favorite UT basher and Bama criminal. I'll make him my avatar.....he's a great spokesman for the university.

Jake you nailed it for the majority of fans here. I remember when 5-6 wasn't that unusual and nobody ever talked about UT football. Go Vols, Go Coach, kick tail! :aggressive:

Can CPF turn this team around this year, who knows. We have some very good returning talent and still have some depth on the bench. This may not be the best recruiting class TN has ever had but we still are getting some good talent. Just because Rivals or Scout has rated someone a 5 star does not mean they can or will perform in college the same as high school. There is a big difference in the level of play. Phil Fulmer has let this program lapse to what it is now, but he should be given the chance to turn it around. He has done some good things at TN. Lets give him the benefit if the doubt.

For all you who like to label people as "sheep". What is this unnatural attraction to sheep that you have?

The same as I have watching mindless lemmings. Eventually, you will do yourself in. Just as Phil has done us in. :bad:

Was there innocence in your comment about unnatural love for sheep? I guess insults aren't as bad as name calling?
