All this whining & bitching about a 3star Vandy decommit not signing with Tennessee made signing day a complete bore to me.

Highest rated class since 2015, 2 5 stars, a dozen 4 stars, upgrade from the portal, keep all of the key returnees & people bitchin.

Lengthy post so my apologies, but I try to see both sides of the debate:

A. This is a Great class that filled needs with two five stars. Heup did a great job.

B. Others think: “Avg class ranking 6th-7th in SEC. These fans think this class won’t close the gap with UGA, Bama and others and that Heup must recruit better.

The portal adds another dimension to the roster, so I don’t know if we closed the gap.

I don’t view someone a NegaVol for posting concerns. It’s a message board. And I think most fans post positive comments when something good occurs within our program as a fan should take the good with the bad.


Also, some of the concern may be that many fans advised the Nega Vols to “REMAIN positive” during the Lane, Dooley, Butch, and Pruitt years.

Imo, this is a strong class and I’m excited.

A troll for saying the class was great and people crying about a former 3 star Vandy commit and Walter Nolan who was told no due to the Pruitt stuff? I feel as if I’m one of the only optimists here

Let me also say, I think most of you misunderstood what I was talking about. I was moreso saying that if people read the recruiting forum more, there wouldn’t be as much outrage on guys we really didn’t need or want anyways. No one wants to see our logo on a graphic on a kid we don’t get, but between scholarship reductions and competing with the big dawgs, we of course won’t get everyone. This doesn’t mean Heupel can’t recruit, because as long as we are around top 10 with some top 5 classes, we will be in the playoffs every year. It just gets annoying around NSD when we don’t sign some player we weren’t in on all year, and everyone starts trying to bash the staff.

Recruiting is about filling needs just as much as it is about star ratings. Get another 5* qb to sit on the bench, or get a decent 3 or 4 star defensive back instead. Maybe two of them. Star numbers kinda matter, but talent can be developed.

It was Gridscape, and our humble host’s (Chuck) name was Gridorange.

Those were the dang days !! (Of course, the internet was still new, dial up speeds were slow, and the Vols would whip your ass on Saturday - and NSD was the biggest, most fun thing all year—some of those recruiting battles and the surprises that the Big Fisherman (and Rodney Garner) would pull out that day were unrivaled in today’s less fun world— nobody worked all day and the message board hummed like the old stock ticker with each fax that came into the football office !
