Steve McNair found, shot to death

The more I hear what people are claiming her to have said to them or someone else, the more and more she's just starting to sound like a crazy person

You base this on? So what was he?

I base my opinion on the pictures I saw of her, and the fact that she knowingly was dating a married man. She will go down in history as much worse than a whore, mind you. Other than me thinking she probably was a whore, she was a gold-digger, albeit not a good one, given the fact that she got an Escalade from McNair, but she had to pick up the payments. I don't see any evidence that she wasn't a whore, either. If she had the capability to murder a man, she definitely had the capability of being a whore. But who knows, right? She may have been a perfect little girl, up until her DUI and murder/suicide.

You ask what was he? He was a cheater/playa (thanks Vader). Plain and simple.

The fact that she shot a man four times before blowing her brains out is what makes me think she was a crazy person, not claims that other people have made.

Absurd? Please Bill, explain why. If I am way off-base, I'll gladly apologize.

throwing so much heat towards the girl, a 20 year old girl that a 36 year old man obviously connected with in a way that was completely inappropriate and acting like the 36 year old man is completely innocent. What McNair did to start the relationship was disgusting. He definitely didn't deserve to die, but he was much more than just a "playa".

she was young, confused and likely completely broke. All of a sudden a former NFL star shows interest in her and she falls for him. He waits WAAAAAAAAY too long to put an end to it (if he even did) and even cosigns a car for her. An Escalade at that. McNair was an idiot and just as much a "whore" as anyone in this debacle.

Bill, I'm not saying McNair was completely innocent. I agree with you that cheating on his wife with a 20 year old is disgusting and inappropriate. However, he didn't pull any trigger, and cheating shouldn't be punishable by death. And the "playa" thing I put in there from vader's post earlier.

understandable, but you didn't paint that picture with your post. The girl was young and dumb, McNair was old and dumb. McNair should have never put himself in position to get into such a situation.

1) Nobody ever said that he deserved death.

2) Your description of her, while minimizing his role, is rubbish.

I agree. Sorry my post came off the wrong way. The fact of the matter is that we don't know the whole situation. McNair is not the only athlete, or even human being to cheat. I hate to see McNair's name get degraded for something that happens every day. Not to mention that Steve was extremely charitable and always made time for his fans. It's a shame that in his death, his reputation is tarnished.

My point regarding her is that neither you or I have any proof that she was or was not a "whore." I based my opinion about this from the numerous pictures circulating, and the fact that she was trying to be a gold-digger who snapped when she thought it was all about to be taken away. McNair is only guilty of being a cheat, and possibly being misleading. Still rubbish?

Do you not see the contradiction in the bolded statements?

I see where you are trying to go, but let me ask you this...

Was she a gold-digger in the sense that she was with an older man who bought her a vehicle, took her on trips, and spent money on her?

Was McNair a cheat and possibly misleading?

Was it not determined that she committed the murder/suicide after she thought she would lose Steve?

What do you think Steve's young sons would take from this thread? It's a crying shame so many people only care for their consequences and ignore their childrens. The key word here is selfishness.

Like I said earlier, I hate that his reputation is tarnished just because this girl decided to snap. You didn't hear a peep out of anyone about his "affair" until his death. It is sad, and I can't imagine being in his children's shoes.

He was being selfish, but I am afraid that many more athletes are just as selfish.

his reputation is tarnished because he ruined his reputation. The girl snapped because his reputation wasn't who he actually was. I can't believe you are still putting him on a pedestal for no good reason.

Would it have been better for him to be perceived as such a great guy that did everything right only to find out years later he was sleeping with every girl that came around? From reports, she wasn't the only girl in his life that he wasn't married to.

Bill, I'm not putting McNair on any pedestal. I'm just pointing out that his faults, when it comes to adultery, were no different than millions of other people. I don't think he should be painted with being a bad person. His mistake was, of course, cheating on his wife and not thinking of the consequences. I'm not stating that cheating is right, either.

But his reputatuon isn't tarnished because he was murdered, it's tarnished because he's an adulterer. Consequently, he was also murdered because he was an adulterer. Obviously the girl is guilty of her crimes, but only McNair is responsible for how he'll be remembered.

If your trying to say that he wouldn't have been murdered had he been at home with his wife then I agree.

But there are other factors at play here. We had an irresponsible young woman, who most likely saw dollar signs and all her problems taken care of if she could get into a long term relationship with McNair. At some point it became obvious to her that he did not want the relationship to go where she wanted it to go. Add this to her financial problems and you have the reason he was murdered and the reason she killed herself. Steve had little to do with his murder, other than stepping out on his wife. Had he not done that he might still be alive but cheating on his wife wasn't the reason he was murdered.

A. Stepping out on his wife started it all.

B. You're making a lot of assumptions in both McNair's and the young woman's roles in this adulterous affair. McNair took it far enough to cosign a car for her. An Escalade at that. He didn't help her get a Civic or Corolla, he went biggie size for her. If this was Joe Blow from Murfreesboro, no one would be painting him as innocent as so many of you are painting McNair.
