Nothing, but whether the frackers can withstand oil below about $50 (or whatever their breakeven is) for any extended period of time is another question. A lot of them can't.

This doesn't mean that fracking itself is dead (quite the contrary, IMO), but a lot of the current fracking companies might be.

Regarding the payroll tax cut, I have mixed emotions about this. On the one hand, if it helps curb the panic in the markets and stabilize things, its a good idea.

On the other hand, it means more long term shortfalls in Medicare and Social Security, which remains a concern.

So I do hope that whatever they announce they add that it will be reviewed every 8 weeks or so as to its necessity.
