stock market was up today...

Not great. Not a disaster. I think the economy isn’t being managed well by our elected office holders. Longer term there are demographic and energy concerns with our allies.
Yea, the problem I see long term is we are going to be speaking Spanish and Europe is going to be speaking Arabic. Short of that, killing off the energy sector won't help.

Had a looong talk with our Kenworth dealer today. Been waiting on a chassis for over a year it was finally built Aug 8 but it’s still sitting at the factory in Cleveland. No front spring assemblies, no idea when truck will be shipped and I should expect the 2 scheduled to be built in November to be pushed back to January. Freightliner has pushed the 2 we have on order till spring.

I’m about done myself.

Im waiting on 11 EV batteries to leave port, and somehow the trip across the Pacific is 27 days. Once they arrive at Port of Long Beach they will have to be shipped by truck around the country by truck because too dangerous to fly. I’m over this….. big time.

it is still at a 40 year high

I’d like to see consumer purchases side by side. 40 years ago new pickup trucks weren’t $80,000 and only the top 0.1% (or less) had a mobile phone. But Jordache and Calvin Klein jeans were eating up paychecks. And PCs weren’t mandatory - but many of them cost $10,000. In 1982 dollars. 3 bedroom apartments were available for about $300/month. That was only $100/roommate at Sutter’s Mill. Gas was probably about $1.50 - so it’s actually more affordable today. Despite the stupid EOs.

How are Elon’s autonomous trucks coming along? Maybe he can get involved with autonomous railroad systems. The problem with those won’t be the technology though. It will be Bubba, the domestic terrorist and Union thug.

RRs would probably be relativley easy to automate outside of the building of trains in the yard.

yep, but the reasons for it are apexing and starting to sort themselves out already.

Pay close attention young people. This is what happens when you go 4 years at 0 % interest rates. You cook the economy with free debt. It's literally pouring gas on it and throwing a match on it.

You are 100% correct that we would be experiencing pain from inflation even had Trump been reelected. The biggest difference is that Biden's handlers have intentionally tried to make it worse while I believe Trump would have tried to free up the country to get production rolling again.

See, that's a fair comment. Can you be more specific as to what Biden & co did that exacerbated it? I think other than oil pipeline stuff, I get that argument. I mean other things.

I guess it’s not a bad idea to have human monitors riding along. But cameras could do a lot of that. Maybe engineers will eventually be replaced by armed security. Like riding shotgun on horse drawn wagons.

Long-term, there are severe energy concerns here due to the incredibly stupid policies being implemented by the leftists running the Democratic Party.

The 50% of his Executive Orders granting special rights to victimized groups can’t be helpful.

It goes beyond the current office holders. We should have already had many more refineries and nuke plants online right now.

How does that affect the economy?

Nuke plants are a 10-12yr endeavor while a potus is 8 max. None want to risk it knowing they won't get the credit

There are plenty of rules/regulations the admin could suspend or end to speed up recovery but they have balked at damn near every suggestion. It took 11 months for them to approve a rule to bypass DEF sensors while over 10,000 trucks sat idle due to them not being available. They could have suspended the summer blends of gas, blocked CA from enforcing the emission standards at the ports, could have never tried implementing the vaxx requirements. Let Europe pay for the defense of Ukraine and sending our money over there.

It's my understanding that a big issue with the new RR workers contracts is the companies want to do away with the conductors and go to a single operator.
