Stoops is busy talking down the SEC again this week

..as far as what Stoops says about SEC it can't really be taken seriously. 5 different SEC schools won national titles since the BCS era began. In last two years 112 players drafted to NFL from the SEC and 39 from Big 10. Those numbers were mentioned this evening on SECN.

Right but the point he was making was that it's so top heavy that the bottom 7 of the conference arent anything to write home about. There is this idea that just being associated with sec means you are something. But there are plenty of bottom feeder teams who will not play for hardawre in the sec anytime soon. At the time he made those comments the top half of the sec had went like 36-0 against the bottom half. nobody denies how great the upper echelon has been though.

He will try to run the score up on us if he can so he can prove a point that the S.E.C. is not the dominant conference in NCAA football......

Meh. Cant make a point by routing tennessee that they didnt already make by beating alabama. Besides, OU cant route you if you dont let them. sec right?

I'm just over Stoops and his attitude. It saddens me that we are wasting our time talking about him.

LOL! By Stoops argument the Big 10 is more balanced from top to bottom than SEC because all of them suck. The SEC has almost as many teams in top 25 as the Big 12 has teams.

For some reason, whenever an SEC team players any other conference, they represent the conference, and I want them to win. But when the Vols play, I couldn't care less about the SEC and it's about representing the big Orange. So Stoops SEC talk doesn't bother me one bit tbh

Quite frankly, this is what OU fans don't quite understand about the "we are SEC" mentality. All teams within the SEC want to "hitch their wagon" to the conference mantra....or so it seems.

Tennessee is a historically great program with National Championships, All-Americans, and National Award winners. With merit, Tennessee can certainly stand on their own. IMHO, your program doesn't need to fall back on "we are in the SEC". That is something that Ole Miss, South Carolina, A*M (those types of programs) need to do in order to validate themselves.

OU doesn't give a rats a$$ about our conference....and never has! You would be hard pressed to find an OU fan that wants OSU, Texas, etc. to win on a weekly basis....unless it directly benefits us towards the end of the season in a championship scenario.

Stoops' comments have been taken out of context when what he was pointing out is that basically "most conferences have a great team or two/three, some good to mediocre teams, and some bottom feeders". And he has never backed away from giving credit to the SEC top tier programs. But if asked about it, he will usually give you his opinion (non-coach speak, which is refreshing) whether you agree with it or not.

Bob Stoops is going to know the SEC quite well Saturday night and he isn't going to like it. He will know it even better when they come to Neyland next year in front of close to 109,000 and we really tune him up. Todd Kelly, Dillion bates and others will make him remember the SEC.
