Well newsflash......it wasn't!!

And when did it become acceptable to say......well we scored 38 points and that should be enough, so if they score more than that, that's on the defense for not stopping them

The defense laid down and got ran over, but where's our offense that just ran up the score a week prior. We didn't NEED to score over 60 on Mizzo, but we did (and they have a much better defense than SC). We have the #1 offense in the country, up against a defense that's worse than ours.

Where's the expectation that we actually run up the score when we NEED to?

You're obviously taking the criticism of Tim Banks defense personal, the criticism is warranted and there needs to be changes made whether that sits well with you or not. Fact of the matter is 38 points is more than enough to beat that South Carolina team. Fact is Tim Banks turned Spencer Rattler into an All-American QB in one night.

Who’s teaching that you have to score in the 60s to win? The issue wasnt points. The issue is the offense knew the defense was going to lay down. That was contagious and infected the whole team. A house divided cannot stand.

There are two sides of the ball. Someone needs to get the memo that there is. It's been two years now and this defense has been hot garbage both of them. If our players are truly that bad then a bunch of freshmen coming in next year won't fix it in one year. I don't think that's the whole problem.. They're weak on the corners and SC attacked the edges all night. They knew where to attack.. Tennessee needed to generate some pressure and couldn't do it all night. Even when we went zone the holes were huge.. We're just not good on the back end. So you have to figure out a way to get Rattler out of the pocket. It was poor play and not a very good scheme either.

No one is talking about 38 points and saying oh well that should be enough. People are talking stats and statistically 38 points vs SC that only averaged around 20 pts a game, so putting 38 on them should've been enough statistically but our defense allowed SC to WAAAAAAAY over achieve.
Stop trying to shift the narrative to the offense performance. This lost is on the defense, Banks and the turd his defense laid.

Agreed. There 2 sides of the ball and that's for a reason. You can't win without both sides doing their job.

Very simply put, in order to actually win a game, the offense has to score points and the defense has to stop the other team from scoring MORE. On 9 occasions this season, that has been the case.

This season, when we NEEDED to score more because the defense couldn't stop the other team, we DID. Why is theSC, game any different? We have the #1 offense in the country and we've already proven that we can score over 60, even on better defenses than sc, so why wasn't that the expectation? We do what we have to do to WIN. TEAMWORK.

My point is, since the defense was getting torched and couldn't answer, if we want to win, what do we do?

I've already answered that in my post...statistically but as far the the 38 points, then what comment. The answer is then the defense should've done their job, if it was a close game like a 3pt win people would've been upset we lost and probably saying CJH should've taken the 3pts when he could but to let SC lay 60 on TN, that's all on the D
And Bama, the D rolled over, we were up pretty good on them, we won but we had some help from St Nick play calling and their RB I believe that dropped an easy catch that would have got Bama the 1st down and well within kicking range...

The defense got stops against MIZZOU giving the offense more opportunities to score. In drives that mattered, SCAR's offense scored TDs on 9/10 possessions. Go pound some turkeys.
