That could be said of much better coaches at other schools. Fedora, Dykes, Briles, Gundy, Taggart, ....etc. Just to name a few.

Recruiting guys to Louisville in the Big East is not the same as recruiting guys to Tennessee in the SEC. It is said that CCS is a great recruiter, but it still isn't apples to apples. Furthermore, he will be competing against some of the top minds in the NCAA week in and week out in the SEC.

Based on Charlie Strong's reputation, resume, and credentials, yeah. I'd say that's about right.

What about recruiting kids from Florida to Louisville over SEC schools?

Do you know anything about Charlie Strong?

in a lesser league with powerhouses like Uconn, Rutgers, Syracuse and South Florida....all with stud coaches like there are in the SEC....and the non conference games...oh my let's not ignore those superpowers...Mizzou State, Kentucky, FIU and the winless Southern Miss Golden Eagles...

Now on the other hand....I will give him credit for starting to get them back on track...I am not taking anything away from his coaching skills at a school like UL or what he accomplished as a DC at USCjr and FLa....I just dont believe he will work here at this time...3 more yrs at UL and still doing work and winning...I would welcome him with open arms...just need more proof....

Yes, he recruited guys to Florida when they were in some of their best years. Tennessee is not in its best years.

The best recruiting class he ever had at Louisville was ranked 30th. I don't think he was taking the top of the SEC...more like the leftovers.

This needs to be quoted and bolded. He is winning in Louisville with kids he pulled out of Florida. Which is pretty much the definition of what you need to do to win at Tennessee.

He's led a team to a better bowl than most Coaches in the SEC this year AND he did it at Louisville. Charlie Strong is one if the better rising coaches available.

By the way, do you want to address the fact that he is going to have to out-coach guys like Saban, Miles, Spurrier, Muschamp, week in and week out?

I didn't suggest anyone. I'm just not jumping on a Charlie Strong bandwagon. This doesn't mean I won't support the guy, but I'm not thoroughly convinced either. As a VOL fan, being a little bit skeptical at this point should be an inherent trait for VN. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be.

I think his results at Louisville are an improvement over his predecessor, but I think they are still debatable.

And about Miles, yeah, maybe he has more balls than brains. However, he does have an undeniable measure of success.
