Stop with the complaining over 3* recruits

Obviously the composite hates the Vols. Appears as though Cimaglia lost a star. Could of swore he was a 3*, now a 2*. Being a K, not a huge deal.

The composite is an average - doesn't hate anybody. And he's still the number 8 kicker in the nation and an instate guy. So, there's that. . .

Perhaps isn't wasn't committable?

Damn that Les Miles, why offer kids if they aren't guaranteed a spot or the offer is not committable? Smh. Don't offer the kid if you aren't willing to accept his commitment. I hope this isn't happening at other schools around the nation 🙄🤔

LSU does do a little better with it. I believe they fill their class with closer to 175 offers vs our 350+. I think 150-175 is very reasonable.

Why is 175 any more reasonable than 350 or 3500? That is still more offers than available spots. Your arbitrary unwritten recruiting guidelines change with the wind.

No, I've said I think you can build a class with around 150 or so offers. What's the difference between 350 and 175? IMO a lot. At 350 we are devaluing the offer. Its not a big deal to get a UT offer anymore. 60 kids show up at camp and 50 leave with an offer. We never hear anything else on 30 of them who got offers. At 175 obviously there are a lot less out there. Its more exclusive. When kids with UT offers are signing with FAU or Temple IMO it shows the evaluations are NOT being done before throwing out the offers

There's a lot of difference in 10000 offers and 5000 offers too, but it's irrelevant because there aren't 10000 spots, 5000 spots, 350 spots, or 175 spots. So all the offers can't and won't be honored. It's just silly of you to arbitrarily decide what is a proper amount of offers to issue.

350 just seems like a lot of worthless offers to me. I've pointed out Fulmer, Kiffin, and Dooley didn't do it. I get its a Butch thing. Just not a fan of it. IMO schools not doing it can negative recruit you if you do, especially when you're always right near the top of number of offers extended.

That's fine. I just think the same argument could be made that 175 offers seems like a lot of worthless offers as well for 25 spots.

I understand you'll never be able to offer 25 kids to sign 25. It just seems very excessive to me right now. I was looking at last years offers. We "offered" 21 instate kids and signed 3. Of course a lot of them weren't committable. I just don't see the point.

Everyone with me now...

I've tried but no one else seems to so what's the point. I just mock him and waste his time. That's my goal. I hope every 3 star gets booted so his head explodes. I hope Butch hands out thousands of offers.

That's what I like to hear. GOOOAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLL!

Booting 3* commits. Oh yeah. Because those maneuvers are working like a charm for us.

1000's of offers? Sure.

"Butch, did you offer Alex Thompson"?

"I did".

"Um you know that's a the 4th grade sister of a recruit from 2 years ago, right"?

"Uh, yeah, of course I knew that"! "Might have to gitshirt her".

LOL

Crunchy--serious question--why are you so convinced that asking some commits to look around is such a problem? We may not like the feel of it, but what evidence do you have that it's been a problem for us?

It's just my opinion. Recruiting has fallen off quite a bit. I'm sure it's lots of things, but I see some areas where the problems are self inflicted.

I understand you believe that but I'm wondering what causes you to have that opinion. I haven't seen or heard any comments from recruits that lead me to conclude that's the basis for recruiting decisions (although I know Tim Hart last year was quite upset).

It certainly has. But you cant argue the numbers we have at DE, DB, QB, and DT. These are generally where stars matter. If you want to complain about recruiting you may have an argument in lb, ot, and rb. (Depth wise). Truth is we will not recruit like UA unless we reel off some significant bowl wins, we just dont have the juice to do it. We dont have the " immediate playing time" card anymore, and that is a good thing.

It's something I am sure other schools use against us. I'm not a fan of giving other programs more negative ammunition to use against us. Yes, I understand SOME other schools do it from time to time. Obviously those aren't the schools probably using it to help them recruit against us. Like I said, calling a commitment family then processing them is just one problem.

It's crazy that I get more pissed off reading supposed UT fans comments on this board than rival team posters. Become almost unbearable the negativity.

As long as you respond, he doesn't care.

I think the problem is that you passive-aggressively present that opinion as fact over and over and over...

And all this following a 9-4 season with those 4 losses by a total of 17 points (7 of those in double OT), in which our team was still young, inexperienced, lacked depth, and faced a lot of adversity with injuries. On top of this, we have the most hype that this program has seen in 10+ years!! If you can't be positive as a Vol fan at this point in time, then hand in your stinking VFL card, because you aren't one!!

12 days away...let's roll, boys!!!!
