Should Vol fans storm the court when we beat a top 5 team?

I am storming the hell out of that place :)

He'll fine you if you break through the guard line out front. No matter how happy you are to see your agent, it is just not allowed. You'll have to settle for getting drunk and hitting on chicks in the parking lot.

Nicely done

Storming implies (rather strongly) that our program is not accustomed to such things, this is certainly not the case. It is expected...not a surprise occurrence. When was the last time you saw the fans of a top program storm the court? Never!

We have a Storm the Court thread and ESPN/Reilly prints a Storm the Court story.

Rick Reilly: Storming the court - ESPN

It's spontaneous, like a flash flood. It's unpredictable, like Publishers Clearing House showing up at your front door. It's as unstoppable as a sneeze and just as unplanned. It carries you away like a tornado. You suddenly find yourself on top of the rim and have no idea how you got there.

Maryland fans just stormed the court after beating Duke. I guess they weren't expecting to win.

GOOFY!

It appears Maryland is aspiring to be like UT by taking to the streets and burning stuff.

I used to live near College Park for about a year, this is not their first rodeo when it comes to rioting, they've been doing it since way before we did. It's like their own little cottage industry up there.

Our fans think that somehow we are better fans by not storming the court. This is UT basketball. We literally have not been there before in this generation. I think UT fans in general just don't get as excited about basketball. We had no problem rushing the field way back in the first half of the last decade when our mediocre football program actually beat Florida.

Maryland storming the court makes about as much sense as Inidiana storming the court after they beat Minnesota. Act like you've been there before...and in both their cases they HAVE been there before.

Our expectation is to beat a top 5 team. We don't have to storm the court for a win we expected to happen.

For those that didn't know, I'm currently a student at OSU. This year after beating Iowa to secure a Rose Bowl birth, the students (me included) rushed the field to celebrate. I've never really liked the idea of rushing the field, but I wasn't going to be the only one sitting up there in my section. It was cool to sing Carmen and pat the players on the back, but it wasn't something I feel a need to do again. I don't really regret that I did it, but I certainly felt that it isn't something that should happen at a school like OSU.

After OSU locked up a share of the Big 10 championship in basketball this year, the students rushed the court, and Reilly wrote that article about how stupid it looked. Of course people here started complaining like it the writer was out to get them. None of them really considered how silly it looked to rush the court after beating a team that barely went over .500 in conference play.

I guess it depends on how much you care about the opinions of others. If you couldn't care less what writers and other fans may have to say, then whatever. No reason you shouldn't do what you think is fun as long as you're safe. However, if you are a Final Four contender behaving like South Carolina fans, don't complain when others call you on it.

No offense, but didnt OSU's student body, after beating Michigan and securing its BCS Championship berth in 2002, then riot in celebration, flipping over cars and setting them on fire?

OSU rushing the field/court doesn't make sense in EITHER sport. OSU won the NC in 2002 and just went to 2 consecutive BCS Championships just 2-3 years ago. And the basketball team went to the championship game just 3 years ago. How is winning the conference basis to rush the court/field?
