Storming the field has gotten ridiculous

It seems like it happens anytime ALABAMA gets defeated. UT vs UA in 2022, this year, at Vandy vs. Alabama. There are others.
Just shows what a foothold and domination Alabama has had for the better part of 40 or so years.
I agree, it's not safe.
I will add, they were sights to There is no UT fan on here that isn't glad to see Alabama get beat and finally out of the way now that we have a playoff system.

Storming the field, apparently, happens in cycles. UT stormed the field in the ‘98 UF game, and it was awesome. Then more and more teams did it over the next few years, and it became a problem, with a few people getting hurt. Then schools started beefing up security. I remember being in the stands in the 2004 UF game, and there were about 50 security guards around the student section, trying to prevent the field-storming. One guy actually tried to storm the field. He got tackled and cuffed. Storming the field kind of stopped happening in the 2000s and 2010s. UT made it cool once again in 2022. I think the following next few years, you’ll see more schools with added security at the end of games, and fines being more heavy. The cycle will continue. UT might break the trend again in another 20+ years.

You may be right, but it's a different world today with social media and people wanting to get attention. But the 'cool' factor wearing off will stop it, I'm sure.

I can’t believe the ‘98 field storm doesn’t get more mention. That was the best thing I’ve ever seen. I don’t think the kick had even landed yet and the goalpost was already down. It was after that game that CBS stopped putting the $200,000 camera on the goalpost.

Kids wanna storm? Let ‘em storm! CFB is magic unlike any other sport - storm on.

I agree that it has gotten out of control. Kids just want to storm the field to try to go viral.

My fix is that once the game gets to like 10 seconds left, cut service to the stadiums. No phones, no storming.

The first thing I saw the ground crew did after our game with UTEP yesterday was secure/take the padding off the goal posts and pick up all the pylons. Guess those things are getting expensive.

It’s been a crazy season so I’m not mad at storming the field, but at least be aware enough to know when the game is actually over.

Do you say the same when people get excited about winning championships and vandalize property? Because that’s what they’re doing. And it costs schools a lot. I thought it was possible to be excited and have fun without destroying ****.

I’ve never really been anti-storming until this year. It’s just gotten stupid. It has the look of trying too hard.
Totally disagree. Vandalism? Yes the field is torn up along w/ goal posts. But that is usually the extent.

3. Tennessee. All 3 of their losses this season have resulted in stormings. And something like their last 12 in a row.

At some point, we’re complimenting the hell out of them.
I recall Saban talking about this years ago.

I could understand his point thats it's exhausting and stressful to deal with every time they lose an away game.

I understood the OPs point to be that it's increasing in prevalence, and has expanded to include less-than-premium wins.

Probably this will end up a "killing the Golden Goose" situation. It's pretty easy to recognize in advance.
