i live in knoxville, dummy. I've practiced employment law here for years and i can count the amount of times i've run across and employer's "anti-alcohol testing policy" on a blind shop teacher's nub.
Employer's may test urine, and they may throw an "etoh" test in there at no extra cost to the employer, but its a pointless test. Having etoh in your system isn't against the law and it isn't even an indicator of intoxication. Even a .01 bac is indicator that someone may have had a drink anywhere from 2-14 hours ago.
The real reason that employers drug-test is to find the fat-soluble drugs, like weed, that stay in a person's system for weeks. The other water-soluble drugs, meth, coke and etoh, stay in the system for a matter of hours. A drug test may luck up and hit on one of these, at which time a company can fire an employee for having an illegal substance in their system, except in the case of etoh, of course.
A test hits on etoh and you've just probably proven that the employee had a few cocktails after dinner last night. Congrats.
