Striplin, striplin, striplin

Striplin has the capability to be a solid performer. Give her the off season to remake he body. She has a good frame and will eat space underneath. By the time she is a junior she will be a rock solid performer giving the team 8 and 8 most nights and play error free. If she can build upon her physical strength she will be able to keep opposing posts out of position. She will be the kind of bench performer that all good teams need. She will never make all sec, but there is an important role she can play.

IMO, Kellie doesn't manage her roster by encouraging transfers except in the case of something administrative where the player has to go. Kellie is emphasizing "Family" and you don't fire family especially when they are doing what they are supposed to do. The answers lie in recruiting and portal exploitation. Kellie has to get the players and I believe she will. She can coach. She just took a bunch of 3 and 4 stars onto the home floor of the #1 team who has all 5 star players and competed.

As far as winning next year goes, it's the year after next that will be the challenge. Too many variables to forecast. I guess I have more confidence in Kellies development program than some.
I agree with you, however, many in the fan base throw in the towel far too quickly. The minute the ladies hit a bump in the road they are ready to cash in their chips. It takes time to rebuild a team when it was allowed to go way South. Before we are ready to declare that the sky is falling, let’s see how KJH finishes the season and what she does in preparing for next season and the results of her 23 recruiting results.

Every team has juniors trying to get there, and every team has freshman who make impacts in their frosh year and those who don't. We're no different.
Problem is that most of the freshman coming in are out playing some of our Juniors by leaps and bounds. Fundamentals are the missing ingredient with lots of our players. Key for instance tends to play 5'6 with the ball because she always brings the ball to her waist before making a move. How can that not be corrected by now?

Bringing the ball down seems to be a common bugaboo with all the bigs. And I mean over the years and all the programs. I wonder if this is a habit from early on when as little girls they needed momentum to launch the ball back up. Just a wonder.

If freshman are coming in and outplaying our juniors, that bodes well for the future. As far as fundamentals, I would also like us to be more fundamentally sound. Who wouldn't? As far as Key, sometimes she doesn't bring the ball down and sometimes she does. I think that she often brings it down while she is being jostled and bumped (mugged) when she is off balance and instinctively wants to protect it. Nobody's perfect, but I do agree with you that the team could be more sound in fundamentals. Passing comes to mind.

Certainly far from giving up that she won't be a very good player for us. Her numbers aren't really that bad for the minutes she has played. 116 minutes and 39 rebounds is really good board work. She has done ok shooting the ball and really well at the line. If we could figure out a way to get her, Puckett, and Darby to the line more we would rack up some points.

Do Puckett and Karo get much floor time together? Tamari missed an inside dish to Striplin terribly…

I'm not encouraging her transferring but these numbers are a problem if she is "our best 3 point shooter"

Sadly, the statement is probably accurate and she IS the best three point shooter, which just underscores how poorly Kellie assembled this roster...

Darby, while not making a three this last game, did a good/decent job defensively(except two of those 3s made were speed related defensive liabilities on her part) and got a put back and a had a nice midrange jumper go in. She’s stated this feels like a freshman season to her so if that’s the case, she’ll be fine nice season and even better the year after. Striplin is a freshie but she’s good. How good remains to be seen but she looks like a player who needs reps to find the speed of the game. I like Em but Striplin is who will have to backup TK. When Emily is in every team knows they can make a run of 6-8 unanswered points and that’s where the game gets lost.

Those numbers u put up add up to 6 of 18= 33% which is good not great for 3’s but better than yesterday.

She is 37 of 100 for the season or 37 percent which is 56 percent from the two. She can shoot the three has a problem getting off clean looks as we don't really have the drivers and passers we need on the team. She has some work to do in the off season to get physically stronger and work on other parts of her game. She has a role on any team probably not as a starter, but a solid contributor.

Many/most of the LVs have a very low ceiling for physical improvement. They are slow afoot, limited quickness and no jumping ability. They are what they are.
Conditioning and decision making can improve. Shooting ability can improve with proper coaching. Improved recruiting is a must if they LVs ever hope to win it all.
