I am not debating that issue. I am saying because this board leans heavily to the right, the opinions from the left are more easily dismissed for no other reason than just plain disagreement.

That being said, I have witnessed, first hand, women being kept out of senior management positions for no other reason than they might get pregnant. The hours worked issue is exaggerated as well. I have seen plenty of guys hang around for 10 hours a day and get no more done than some there for only eight hours, yet the perception is they are working harder because they are there longer.

face time also can be part of what it takes to get ahead in certain organizations. while i personally don't believe in it, i would have no one to blame, but myself, if i got penalized for it. personally i have chosen to work in a profession that doesn't require face time. many of my buddies that went to large accounting firms or investment banks went in knowing that this was part of getting ahead.

also at my old job my boss got a bonus for every minority or female employee he hired. double bonus if it was an exec.

I lean left and don't care to say so. I am not as far left as most of these guys are far right. More accurately, I would say I am center left and a good portion of this board is center right to far right.

Back when my ambitions were more aligned with moving up the corporate ladder, I would often go back to work later in the night when no one was in the office. This accomplished two things:(1) got more quality work done because there were no interruptions and, (2) kept me from looking like the bosses' favorite for getting more work handed to me

I am a crazy conservative when it comes to economics and such..... socially, I could care less......... live how you want to live.

The reason I say this is because of the opposite of right is wrong thing..........

I have always subscribed to this..... The Religious Right is neither.........

It drives me crazy christians want to use gov't to spread the gospel.......... freakin lazy freedom haters!

As to the first bold. Is that not what this is all about? Hispanics showing their Mexican Pride in public, and the school endorsing it?

As to the second in bold. "You don't have to lie, to have friends."

There is plenty that happens in public that affect me very little and how my life is. It's all about how you perceive it, especially with something as trivial as raising a flag beside an american flag.

and to your second point... i'm by far more of a social liberal with issues that I flat out will not change when it comes to treating people equally (true or not, again not trying to start another debate). if a libertarian made it into office, I wouldn't care, despite their economic conservative approach.

no. i'm saying let the school deal with it. we have no idea why the flag was up there.

if the flag is put up there solely for the reason of trying to cause a problem within the school, than by all means take it down. if it's put up there as a celebration of culture, than there's nothing wrong with it.

As far as being put up to cause a problem. (Assuming the story is correct) the school did not deal with the issue when they had the chance. Most of the time when you ignore a situation it doesn't go away. If the students mother tried to contact the school only to not get a response, why should the school suspended the student.

lack of reform, allowing the private sector to go unregulated despite obvious flaws, etc... again, i can deal with that if everybody is socially equal. if you're socially equal, everything else can and will take care of itself.

i agree, the situation wasn't handled correctly based on the pathetic story that gave little to no details without even an acknowledgement of trying to contact the school by the people that produced the article. it was obvious, there was an agenda.

journalism 101, get both sides of the story. something that news organizations suck at now days.
