i agree, the situation wasn't handled correctly based on the pathetic story that gave little to no details without even an acknowledgement of trying to contact the school by the people that produced the article. it was obvious, there was an agenda.
journalism 101, get both sides of the story. something that news organizations suck at now days.
and to your second point... i'm by far more of a social liberal with issues that I flat out will not change when it comes to treating people equally (true or not, again not trying to start another debate). if a libertarian made it into office, I wouldn't care, despite their economic conservative approach.
lack of reform, allowing the private sector to go unregulated despite obvious flaws, etc... again, i can deal with that if everybody is socially equal. if you're socially equal, everything else can and will take care of itself.
i don't know... not enough details... wouldn't surprise me either way.
kids can be bastards at that age. there's no way they can please everybody in a high school at the same time.
i can agree with that.I agree, the details to this point are sketchy.
But assuming that what is out is correct, the school pissed away the chance to diffuse the problem, assuming they really wanted to. Thats why I posed the question.
As to the bold.
Not to keep stir the pot, but an American flag should not produce the same results. We have all come together under that flag, from all corners of the world. Everybody here legally can be proud of that, at the same time.
Bottom line. Both sides of the spectrum need to settle down ab the whole deal. (not the flag) Both sides have good arguments and bad arguments. There are looney, racists right wing extremist, and there are looney, facsist left wing extremist. Neither side is entirely right, nor wrong.

Yes, it's complex. Rational discussion rather than emotional rhetoric would go a long way in coming up with a solution the majority can live with. Unfortunately, that isn't America's style politically lately.
Is sending every congressman home feasible? I wish: Term limits would be a great place to start.

I have mixed feelings on term limits. In effect, we can limit any candidates term right now. We're just choosing not to. Limiting terms is one state meddling with the political options of another. Doesn't seem right. If we as Americans don't like incumbents, quit putting them back in office.
In essence, I also don't like who we've got. I am not sure that term limits are very democratic, though. The ridiculous nature of congress is a DIRECT reflection of the voters.
