Sugar Bowl probably out after tonight

I think we can backdoor the Orange if we get help. LSU losing, USC losing….

Depends if we drop out of the Top 12.

That projection looks like it doesn’t include yesterday’s games. Someone has to be in the playoffs with UGA, OSU, and TCU, and all of the other contenders are listed in those four non-playoff NY6 games. I think we’re in a NY6 bowl if we beat Vandy. I think it would be the Sugar Bowl unless LSU beats UGA and is not selected for the playoffs. If the Committee ranks Bama above us and doesn’t put them in the playoffs, we’d probably end up in the Orange Bowl.

Yeah it was the most up to date before yesterday’s games. Utah, UNC losing should help us not drop as far as we would have. Key is staying top 10-12

Win next week and the Sugar Bowl is certainly still in play I would think. We beat both LSU and Bama. That’s all the justification they need. Our fan base will travel better and spend more money. Unless there is some rule about who they have to pick (usually SEC champ, but they will be in playoff), I would expect it to be us.

Sugar bowl is a lock if you win next week. But I wouldn’t hold my breath on that

Got my doubts about winning another game after watching Milton last night. He was as inconsistent as ever. Don't feel good about VU or a bowl game.

I just don't see that happening. I can't find it anywhere now, but I seem to remember that if the SEC champ is in the playoffs, then the Sugar Bowl gets it pick (with the blessing of the CFP committee and the SEC) of the remaining SEC teams - with them usually choosing the team that loses the championship game unless that team is also in the CFP.

On Tuesday, I will be shocked if LSU isn't #5 and we are out of the top 12. If GA wins, the choice would be between what will almost surely be two ranked teams LSU and Alabama and us. I don't think we get picked in that scenario - even if LSU gets blown out. If LSU wins, GA and LSU are both in the CFP and the choice is between Alabama and us. I think we lose in that scenario also.

I think we need to focus on beating Vandy. We got too caught up in who we would play in the playoff that we overlooked USCjr. With the way we played last night and Hooker probably out, a win next week is not a given.

You might be right about the focus at SC. I would have thought their first drive would have helped us regain our focus, but we never did. I realize our defense has been waiting to be exposed all season long, but that game seemed like more than that to me.

My guess is . . . If we beat Vandy, we will be in the Citrus Bowl. If we lose to Vandy (a real possibility - they are trending up . . . And we will likely be playing with a backup QB / see 2016 for reference material) . . . The Vols end up in the Outback.

Sugar and Orange are unlikely.

I think we only have a very outside chance at the Sugar - I've not looked into what it would take for that to happen. We have no shot at the Orange. We will be behind the loser of OH St/MI, Alabama, Penn St and ND for that.

Sugar is bound to take the highest ranked team from SEC not in playoff. That will likely be Alabama after the SEC title game.

The Orange Bowl is also likely problematic because LSU will likely be higher than us regardless of the Big Ten school.

I think Cotton is most likely.
