I’d think the big loss AND Hooker injury probably lessens Sugar Bowl wanting the Vols over Alabama. I may be wrong but not having HH could be the deciding factor.
It's going to be about money and Travel. Ala fans don't give a damn about a NY6 bowl. Vol fans would travel much better in this case. Ala wouldn't sell half of their allotted tickets.
Not so sure, Sugar is a good chance unless we lose to Vandy plus the cotton is possible.
I would say sugar bowl is pretty likely if we win next week.
It just sucks that two teams we beat will more than likely be getting better NY6 bowl games than us due to the ugly USCjr loss lastnight. No, after LSU loses to Georgia, Alabama will be the highest rated SEC team outside the playoffs. Therefore they go to Sugar. There is no debating it. Thats the contractual agreement.
Orange Bowl gets to choose from the highest ranked of Notre Dame, Big Ten, or SEC after Sugar Bowl. So their choices will be Notre Dame, Penn State, then LSU/Tennessee depending on where the committee ranks LSU after the SECCG.
Cotton Bowl will have to take the G5 team and then they are free to do whatever they want with.
I agree. Using the rankings for the Orange Bowl is one thing with two conferences involved. But the Sugar Bowl should be forced to use conference standings and head to head breakers for that slot.It just sucks that two teams we beat will more than likely be getting better NY6 bowl games than us due to the ugly USCjr loss lastnight.
Why would they be ahead of us? A team that beat then head to head, and we also beat the team that also beat them? I know our loss was certainly worse, but honestly I still don't see it. Also no chance LSU would be ahead of us if they lose to Georgia (and we win). Three losses just isn't going to happen. I guess we'll see on that Sugar Bowl, but I can see it either way.No, after LSU loses to Georgia, Alabama will be the highest rated SEC team outside the playoffs. Therefore they go to Sugar. I believe that Alabama will be ahead of us because not only did we lose, we also lost our starting QB. The selection committee takes everything into consideration, including players' status and whether a team is trending up or down. You have a point about LSU, but Hooker being out really hurts or FCS standings. If Milton plays really well and our offense performs like it did with Hooker at QB, then maybe we stand a chance.
