I think this movie will have a much higher critic review but a whole lot less in the box office numbers

I saw this released yesterday and forgot to post it.

Margot Robbie has apparently fell in love with the Harley Quinn Character!! I hope they make this happen Harley & Poison Ivy and a third female villain (Firefly) vs. Batgirl, Black Canary, Huntress & Oracle aka Barbara Gordon!

Months ahead of the opening of Suicide Squad, Warner Bros. is already contemplating a spin-off for the DC Entertainment anti-heroine, Harley Quinn.

Margot Robbie, who stars as the villainess in Suicide Squad, is attached to reprise the character and would also produce the untitled spin-off, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

But in an interesting twist, the project is not a Quinn solo movie. Rather, it would focus on several of DC’s female heroes and villains.

Details are being closely guarded but names such as Poison Ivy, Batgirl and Birds of Prey have surfaced, although in what capacity, it’s not clear. Warner Bros. isn’t commenting.

There is also a scribe penning the script but those details, too, are being kept secret, although it is known that the writer is female.

DC has a very strong stable of heroines and villainesses and has been focusing on those characters with the rise of its female readership and fanbase. It recently introduced DC SuperHero Girls, a line of comics and products targeting the young female demographic. The characters getting the spotlight include Quinn, Batgirl, Batman villainess Poison Ivy, Katana (Quinn’s fellow member of the Suicide Squad), and Bumblebee, who can fly and shrink.

Sources say that Robbie was the impetus for the project, adding that when she got the part for the movie, she dove deep into the comics to learn as much as possible on the character. In the process, she fell for DC’s female characters. She brought on the writer to help develop the project and brought it to Warners, which snapped it up.

A Quinn-centered movie is a no-brainer for Warners. The character was created by writer Paul Dini and was initially a sidekick and girlfriend to the Joker. But to the surprise of many, she caught the imagination of fans, who have propelled her to star status. While she may not have the stature and deep roots of DC’s Wonder Woman, Quinn’s books outsell the Amazonian’s and her merchandise is also a top seller.

The character has some similarities to Marvel’s Deadpool in that they both break the fourth wall and have nihilistic streaks, with their stories being wacky fun.

Robbie is well-established at Warners for whom she previously starred with Will Smith in 2015 caper flick Focus and plays Jane in this summer’s The Legend of Tarzan.

It's being reported that the film clocks in at about 130 minutes (2 hours and 10 minutes) with credits. This make the movie shorter than both Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice – both of which have clocked in close to two and a half hours.

IMDB just released a mini-trailer of the joker. I'm calling it right now... Suicide Squad is not only going to save the DC movie universe, it's going to be one of the best superhero movies to date.

I never thought anyone (including me) would say this, but I'm excited to see Affleck's Batman again.

Reviews are brutal.

Looks like the parade of bad DC movies will continue.

Getting absolutely obliterated.

One review I read said "Whoever cut the trailer deserves an Oscar."

Ouch.

Oddly its on track to out perform Guardians of the Galaxy. At least for opening weekend.

DC is really banking on this being a hit. They are even saying SS will play a more prominent role in their recently rebooted (again) comics line.

Some of these guys think of it doesn't have Marvel in the opening it sucks

to this point, DC hasn't offered much to refute this.

First, it was wait for MoS.

...then it was BvS. ...then SS.

....now those field goal posts are being moved to JL.

I didn't get all the Hate on BvS or MOS. DC is darker and I think being so far behind Marvel on its movie verse has hurt

The extended cut of BvS made it much more tolerable.

MoS felt like three movies squashed into one very long and poorly paced movie. The whole Krypton part and Clark's childhood/teen years could've been movies by themselves. It just felt like it rushed a whole lot of back story (that was probably unnecessary, considering most people know of Superman's history at this point, same as Batman). MoS also lacked any connection to characters for me. I love Kevin Costner (he always plays a great dad), but I didn't give a single damn when that tornado blew him away. It also lacked humor. Marvel does a great job at mixing character development, pacing, action, and humor better I think. And I prefer the DC universe.

This goes back to my whole DC being behind Marvel Cinematic Universe,my only complaint with DC is its seems they feel like they have to rush to catch up. I love the movies they have put out,can they be better, of course they can but they're not the hot mess some people made them out to be. I count myself lucky that I grew up not quite a comic book nerd but watching the old batman shows, the Spiderman TV movies, the Captain America TV movies the old Superman TV show and Saturday morning Superfriends. I didn't get jaded one way or the other like some. Seeing my childhood hero's on the big screen just makes me feel like a 10 yr old little kid sitting by dad watching TV again

I hear ya. I'll always be partial to Keeton and Nicholson, but I was pleasantly surprised with Affleck. I hope the Lil' Wayne version of the Joker isn't too painful. Superman is such a dry character, it's hard to make him that appealing on screen, but this guy looks the part at least. The Justice League may be where they hit their stride though. The casting for the Flash and Aquaman are great I think.

The thing is though, outside of aa few stories, mostly Batman, DC has always had the brighter universe. Marvel was the grounded "outside your window" universe where mutants were feared and hated, Spider-Man was labeled a menace by the press, and Iron Man had a drinking problem.

They dropped the ball when they ripped all the color, optimism, and hope out of Superman then tried to cram The dark knight returns, the death of Superman, and JL origins into one boring movie.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I actually enjoy the darker, more brooding concept of Mos and BvS. It made Supe much more appealing as a character to me. I agree with the gripe about cramming so much it feels like a rush though. I would have enjoyed a more thorough treatment.
