Sumlin pursuing Chavis..

This.

He has done good, but my personally opinion is LSU should withdraw the offer.

He left Knoxville under stormy clouds making $350k after being there 17 years, currently the 4th highest assistant in the country with a small raise on the table at over $1.33m per season.

He has been a huge distraction which probably hasn't help much over the last 2 weeks. LSU should not only not engage in a pricing war, they should cut their losses.

He did a good job, goodbye.

I think TAM is paying a lot of money for something that ain't going to work but ole well that is actually good.

It will probably hurt LSU slightly short-term as is the norm but with the right hire it could be good. Will have to wait and see.

we get it, you don't like Chavis. He's been successful every where he has been; there is no reason to think he won't find the same success at TX AM. LSU fans should be pissed they lost him to a division rival.

Well... I think you are confused or something(?), you quoted me in which I said he done good, and I have said that quite often I believe. With that said, by this morning it was very apparent that he was hurting the program and I said LSU's offer should be pulled on that reason alone. I am sure you could go through my history and see I said Chavis has done good, not sure where you are going with this.

I think he is a good defensive coordinator, not sure its going to help though... we'll see. Either way, he was paid enough and yesterdays really didn't help his cause.

Your praise of him was more than slightly tinted with sarcasm. It's also "He did well" not "he done good." Just thought i'd help in case that's not taught at LSU.:p

Sometimes I don't even speak in full sentences its call a forum.

My comments about him have been throughout the years, although my opinion might change over time I have said he has done well/good for quite awhile.

He was paid enough, yesterday did not help his cause, he can get more money someplace else that is cool.... goodbye.

Chavis is good, coaches don't strap up and play for him to succeed like he did at LSU and UT, he will need better players, much better players!

Hold on a minute!!!

Remember in 2008, we all complained that Chavis was old and he cost us games by playing the prevent defense?
Remember we said that the only reason he stayed at Tennessee so long was because no one else wanted him to be their defensive co ordinator?

I say we don't make the same mistake twice. Let him stay at L.S.U. or head to A & M.

Remember, we wished that he would go elsewhere and he did. So, we got what we wished!!!!

Oh yeah, the game had passed him by.:thud:

Good for Chief. Well deserved. All the guy does is crank out top rated defenses. aTm just bettered themselves and will be competing in the West for years to come. Hats off to Coach Sumlin and the administration to have to foresight (as well as $$$) to go out and get this guy.

Y'all can discredit his accomplishments to fill your own agendas all you want to. I'm tickled we have him and excited to see how much of an impact he has on recruiting the best La and Tx have to offer. We've finally invested in trying to contend for the West and I am hopeful this hire, & those that coincide with it, prove to be a turning point to address the putrid defense we've experienced the last decade.

Home run hire for Sumlin.

How about you take a hike...you're on a Tennessee message board. If you don't like what people say, GTFO!
