Super Hero Fatigue

So in review, a great box office, making a huge profit, and great reviews all don't make it a success; whiny insecure males on YouTube are the true judges of how good a film is.

Got it.
Critics and the common audience have different ideas on what makes for a good flick. Nothing about the Marvel or DC flicks really appeal to me anymore. These movies have become to much bombast.

Good thing is, Hollywood has nearly went thru all major (Batman , Spiderman) and minor (Captain Marvelous, Shazam) super heroes. Hopefully in a couple of years, there will be some light at the end of the tunnel for people who like to see good movies again.

I guess Marvel Studios should just shutdown then. They probably won't survive without your support. Also there are good movies being made right now that aren't super hero movies. You're just being a snob because you think it makes you smart and interesting when it really doesn't.

Then as I told you in another thread, you need to move on, because you're in the minority.

Give me a brake. I don’t always agree with critics. Not do I always agree with general audience scores. However they tend to correlate more times than not. The biggest exceptions I can think of is The Last Jedi (Critcs:fan - 91:47... I enjoyed) and to some extent BvS (27:63... I didn’t enjoy).

As I stated earlier in the thread, we are only getting 1 Superhero movie once every 2-3 months on average (Summer time skews the real pacing). It’s not like there are no movies coming out inbetween.

What movies aren’t you getting?

According to an article I just read, there is going to be 10 Super hero movies released this year!👎 One super hero movie a year is more than enough.

I love the comics.
I love most of the cartoons.
The avengers bore me to tears though.

The powering up of certain characters and powering down of others that doesn’t match decades of comic cannon gets old.

Infinity wars was good but it is honestly the only avengers movie I have liked.

There are 9 Superhero/Comic movies on tap for 2019

Let’s start with the mainstream stuff...

Captain Marvel - 1 of 3 MCU movies

Avengers ENDGAME - 2 of 3 MCU movies and unusual in that its only a year since the last Avengers movie. Will also be the last Avengers movie for probably 3-4 years.

Spider-Man: Far from Home - 3 of 3 MCU

X-Men: Dark Phoenix - was supposed to come out in 2018 but got pushed back.

New Mutants - R rated horror story version of Mutants. Also pushed back from 2018

Shazam - 1 of 2 DC movies

Joker - 2 of 2 DC movies. Not part of DCU. Possibly R rated. More of a crime thriller.

NON Mainstream

Glass - Original story. Low budget (in comparison) completely unrelated to Marvel, DC, or any comic book for that matter. It does have homage roots so let’s count it.

Hellboy - R rated reboot. Based off a comic book but I wouldn’t exactly call it Superhero.

That seems like a lot but it’s actually a pretty diverse lineup.

Spider-Man’s Stark suit?

The beauty of it is you don't have to watch or even care. I'm sure you preferred the Hollywood era of the chick flick.

Have fun finding the interesting ones
Back when I use to have satellite, I would watch TCM at different off times to catch a rare hidden gem. Once you watch a few classic movies, you will see there is more out there then a typical run of the mill modern snarky super hero movie.

My fatigue is with the continual substitution of "action" with story. Love a superhero/fantasy/comic book/whatever flick. However when it's just a bunch of action sequences to wow us with CGI vs good story telling that happens to include action then I'm bored.

Classic and blockbuster rarely intersect. Your expectations are probably the problem. I'm kind of a movie snob, but at least I understand that superhero movies are intended for large audiences and not awards/TCM.

Good lord. Everyone knows there are other movies out there. Doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy both.

You are still complaining that, at most, 10 movies out of the 100s that come out in a year are blockbuster Superhero movies.

If anything I think Spider-man is underpowered in the MCU, although I'll grant he seems to be slowly realizing his abilities so that may be why. Plus being a kid still he seems to hold back.

Captain America seems like they overpowered but honestly I'm not up to date on his comic persona so maybe they already had. The CA I read many years ago was basically just a better in shape human, and in the MCU he's full on superhuman. Not that I'm complaining, I think he kind of has to be.

Captain Marvel is pretty much guaranteed to have an awesome weekend regardless of how good the movie actually is. It was teased at the end of Infinity War, we all know she plays some kind of significant role in Endgame, and mostly because Endgame comes out in a couple months. People may have waited to catch Captain Marvel at home had there been several months or another year till Endgame. But everyone will want to be caught up for that.
