Super Hero Fatigue

they dominate the market right now, you are deluding yourself if you believe otherwise

Didn’t say otherwise but Hollywood releases 100s of movies a year. Just because 6-10 in a 12 month span make the most money doesn’t mean Hollywood has stopped making other movies.

What type of movies has Hollywood stopped making? Horror? Comedy? Drama? Thrillers? Non Superhero Action? All of those movies get made and many are successful in comparison to their budgets.

so your argument is what exactly? yeah of course other genres and movies are succesful. why would that ever be in question? this is more about the predominant genre on the market and people getting fed up with said trend.

Not sure why this is so hard to figure out. I personally cant wait for the men in tights to go away.

I guess my point is why do you want them to go away when the vast majority still enjoy them and there are still plenty of other movies of varying genres being made for those not interested?

As long as they are making money there's no chance in hell they're going away or even slowing down.

I’m still lost as to why they should just because a few aren’t interested in them.

I don’t care for horror movies. More of those get made in a year than Superhero movies. I don’t bemoan that there is fatigue for a genre I care nothing about.

He was responding to the comment below which, to me, implies that there is some zero sum game of movies and the superhero genre has stopped other types of movies from being made.

Critics and the common audience have different ideas on what makes for a good flick. Nothing about the Marvel or DC flicks really appeal to me anymore. These movies have become to much bombast.

Good thing is, Hollywood has nearly went thru all major (Batman , Spiderman) and minor (Captain Marvelous, Shazam) super heroes. Hopefully in a couple of years, there will be some light at the end of the tunnel for people who like to see good movies again.

Once upon a time, people said the same about Westerns.

The lowest grossing Marvel movie (The Incredible Hulk) would be #5 western of all time. (only Dances with Wolves, The Revanent, True Grit and Django Unchained made more)

Simple question...would you stop doing something that was raking in money? As long as the hero movies are making money they'll keep being made. Good news is you can choose not to watch.

Three of those four were made in the last 7-8 years? And by premier directors. With A+ casts.

Clearly we aren’t losing out on Western genre because Superhero’s are currently the most popular game in town.

Quite honestly, I would say that the horror/suspense genre is the one that is getting made the most right now - just seems like I see a steady stream of commercials as I don't really watch those. The superhero/suspense double whammy appears to be The New Mutants.
