Super Regionals/World Series

I would never let Scarlett hit when I have Batts and Huffstetler. Anyway tough loss and our pitching is a mess so we may have to score ten to win tomorrow.

McSwain was PH for McClain, who is a slapper, so having Batts come in wouldn't make sense as she is a slapper, as well. And McSwain is a better hitter than Huffstetler. Honestly I figured we would see McSwain for Seggern instead of Weimer.

Arnold has lost her mojo...She even looks rattled.

We all feared our pitching would falter, and it did.

Maybe tomorrow.

Arnold has not been mostly mediocre for a month. She's had a couple of good games but she has been knocked around in more than a few games. This is our weakness this year. Did not see the game but can't believe we couldn't finish off a 4-1 lead. Not good.

I had to chuckle when I read that McSwain popped up in the last inning. That's pretty much what she always does...when she hits the ball. She was great in the Kentucky series but has been a cipher since then.

Disappointing that we couldn't punch our ticket today...I don't think that A&M is a very good team, no pitching and terrible fielding...maybe tomorrow but either way this team had a decent year. If we get one more pitcher and can replace Gregg's production we should be as good as anyone in the country next year imo

Whoever survives tomorrow will get annihilated by UF in OKC.

Actually Trinity Harringtons father died last a week or so ago and she did not play at all in the regionals so she wanted to play in the supers. Her mom came with her.:p

Oh thats sad -- I had the sound on mute so I didnt know why they kept showing the mom

TN has a tendency to lose the 2nd game of their SRs. We won the 1st and lost the 2nd (but won the 3rd) in 2006 vs. Michigan, 2007 vs. Hawaii, 2012 vs. Georgia, and 2015 vs. FSU. Those were all at home, too. So that bodes well for us. But I believe all those game 3s were the same day, directly after game 2. We have swept 3 SRs with two being on the road (2005 at Stanford, 2010 at Michigan, 2013 at home vs. Bama). Of course we have only lost one SR, which was at OU in 2014.

A winnable game today. Our Ladies just left too many runners on base. We have too many hitters slumping at the same time, especially Geer and Seggern. But tomorrow is another day and maybe slumps will end. One of my favorite maxims is that you never pitch to the other team's big hitter with the go ahead run on second base. Put the hitter on first to set up force plays on second and third. Forget this and play lights out tomorrow,Ladies!!

Gregg's production---she'll be back next year. And we couldn't replace her production, that's for sure.

I love the Weeklys, and the recruit extremely well but there have been issues with our pitching for a few years. Gabriel was a top recruit but had injury issues and really never came into her own until she was a senior. I'm not sure why she wasn't granted another year of eligibility this year--and that decision cost us. (Made no sense when soccer player Hannah Wilkinson, who had similar injury issues, was granted not one but TWO extra years.) Tarrango didn't work out as a pitcher, nor did the transfer from Texas Tech (not a bad hitter but lousy pitcher), Bush was a bust (that hurt us) and Morrison has not panned out, apparently--which has also hurt us this year. We signed a JC pitcher this year who left early in the season. We've got to hope we can tough it out tomorrow.

Gregg is a junior. She'll be back.

The waiver rules are specific as to how many total games were pitched and when in the season they occurred, and Gabriel didn't meet them. UT knew it was unlikely she would be granted the extra year. I think the Weeklys were counting on Alex Brake and her bailing early in the season took them by surprise.

IDK what happened to Arnold today. She picked the worst time to have a meltdown. Not sure what the Weeklys will do tomorrow, other than hope Matty can go, and Arnold can relieve her.

Oregon about to punch their ticket after UK blew a 3 run lead in the top of the 7th

Kentucky just Tennessee'd in Oregon. Went into the 7th up 5-2 and have given up 4 runs. And Oregon still has a runner in scoring position with just one out.

Thankfully we have the best pitcher in this class coming in next year in Gabby Sprang.

Agreed!! I think if you will look back certainly to Gabriel when Ralph said he promised the Gabriel family he would not recruit another pitcher is where our problems started. She was the #1 pitcher in the nation and he had know way of knowing she would get hurt but it bit the team in the rear. I have not seen any real effort to try and appease at least 3 pitchers that can pitch since then. Bush was a total bust and should have left. Aucoin had pitched at Texas Tech but she was not a pitcher and Morrison you might say is a bust. Brake who was supposed to be the next coming of a pitcher got pissed because she was going to be #3 behind Arnold so she is now a quitter. Next year we have Sprang who is the first left hander recruited by UT since Monica . She is supposed to be the real deal and being a lefty can only be a blessing. I think when you commit some of these kids in 8th grade or so it is often a crap shoot. All schools do it but it looks like it gets us every year or so. Had our recruits like Andretti, Koenig and even Terrango developed and or not quit on us we still would have not been much better. Recruiting is not a perfect science and we can see that very well. This team has over achieved and even getting a win in the Supers may have been our limit. I do think TAM is a overall better offensive team than we are top to bottom and they have 3 pretty good pitchers. Their defense was 3rd in the NCAAs. That 3rd pitcher is going to kill us or the lack of thereof!! JMHO:thud:
