She pitched some in high school and decided with her coach to be recruited as a hitter. She did save us a few times because her pitching was very different. But she couldn't be relied on to pitch full games with high pitch counts and to hit spots consistently. She had one pitch. Not taking away from her as a terrific player. Glad she was a Vol, but she would tell you herself that Cat Osterman she ain't.
LIES! She never cried and She is tough. Lady Vols don't need fans like you tearing them down. They didn't even make it to super regionals last year. She learned a new pitch just a few days before regionals and did well against USC Upstate. She is still developing.
--The Weeklys should have worked on changing McSwain's swing starting about two years ago. I've said it before, as have others, you just cannot be a decent hitter with that very long, loopy swing of hers. Good hitters have short, compact swings and take outside pitches to the opposite field. The inability to do that is why our 5-8 hitters are struggling. McSwain will be a senior next year--and that's very late to mess with a kid's swing, but it's worth trying because it is hard to see her playing otherwise next year. She had the great series against Kentucky--and I'm not sure she's had a hit since! The irony is, I think McSwain has the second most home runs on the team, despite her poor average. This has to be one of our worst power-hitting teams in years. It is a good run-scoring team, thanks to our top 4, but I think Gregg alone has close to half our home runs.
You mean how we were pretty obviously cheated out of a win in the Championship just to play out the Sooner-nado Show like a melodrama on ESPN...?
LA doesn't have to move on. You cheer for one-leg Chamberlain if that tickles your nipples. Geez.
They did. It works, but the first time she doesn't have success, she devolves back into old bad habits. I've heard that her dad actively interferes with the changing of her swing, then blames the coaches when she does what he tells her instead of the coaches and it doesn't work.
The game will be about scoring runs today think we need to get at least 8 to win. We must have the big hits today with runners on base. Don't be surprised to see the freshman pitcher they have if we get to the starter early.
Would you swap Holcomb and Leach in the lineup today? Holcomb is on a 8 game hitting streak. She is 12-23 in that stretch. She actually has a higher batting average and OBP since the beginning of SEC play so she is getting on base. Leach on the other hand is more capable of driving the ball in the gaps. Maybe with McClain at 9 and Holcomb at 1 Leach would come up with runners in scoring position more often and could hit away instead of slapping. Just a thought
