Super Regionals/World Series

If I were the A&M coach ,I would start the left hander today ....she has completely shut down the Lady Vols in last two games.....the only ones hitting are our lefties and they have not had a sniff against A&M left hander.

Guys, this Thread has some excellent posts in it....It's easy to see we do love some women's college softball here....

The young lady from Maryville has to find it again....
The batter that flies out regularly is killing us....
The tough catch in center field needs to be caught.....
We desperately need another arm in the rotation.....(Next season baby)
Whatever happens today, it's been a hell of a season......

She pitched some in high school and decided with her coach to be recruited as a hitter. She did save us a few times because her pitching was very different. But she couldn't be relied on to pitch full games with high pitch counts and to hit spots consistently. She had one pitch. Not taking away from her as a terrific player. Glad she was a Vol, but she would tell you herself that Cat Osterman she ain't.

No where did I say she could be our pitcher to be relied on! No where did I say she was the next coming of Cat. Reading is hard on some I guess.

LIES! She never cried and She is tough. Lady Vols don't need fans like you tearing them down. They didn't even make it to super regionals last year. She learned a new pitch just a few days before regionals and did well against USC Upstate. She is still developing.

No one's tearing down Caylan Arnold or the LVs. She has done an amazing job for us as a freshman, she is a key to our success and yes, she is still developing. But she was upset yesterday after being pulled. Karen really got on her and while I didn't hear what was said, Arnold didn't take it well. She pulled herself together and went back in the game-- and props to her for that. But we need her to be tough as nails if we are to make the WCWS. She'll have another chance today.

And the LVs have made it to the Supers 5 out of the last 6 years, so I'm not sure what your point was there.

--The Weeklys should have worked on changing McSwain's swing starting about two years ago. I've said it before, as have others, you just cannot be a decent hitter with that very long, loopy swing of hers. Good hitters have short, compact swings and take outside pitches to the opposite field. The inability to do that is why our 5-8 hitters are struggling. McSwain will be a senior next year--and that's very late to mess with a kid's swing, but it's worth trying because it is hard to see her playing otherwise next year. She had the great series against Kentucky--and I'm not sure she's had a hit since! The irony is, I think McSwain has the second most home runs on the team, despite her poor average. This has to be one of our worst power-hitting teams in years. It is a good run-scoring team, thanks to our top 4, but I think Gregg alone has close to half our home runs.

They did. It works, but the first time she doesn't have success, she devolves back into old bad habits. I've heard that her dad actively interferes with the changing of her swing, then blames the coaches when she does what he tells her instead of the coaches and it doesn't work.

You mean how we were pretty obviously cheated out of a win in the Championship just to play out the Sooner-nado Show like a melodrama on ESPN...?

LA doesn't have to move on. You cheer for one-leg Chamberlain if that tickles your nipples. Geez.

Just don't understand the hate. Until the Weeklys use that talent, they are in the same boat as CHW. Under-achievers.

Sounds about right! It has to be tough on Scarlett to be between a rock and hard place. She has struggled and hung in there more than 99% of others do. Many times the parent is the problem. In all my coaching years I have seen it so many times I cant remember the number.

Heading over early to watch warmups. Anybody else going?

Looking for a battle today. Hope the LVs bring that warrior mentality!

The game will be about scoring runs today think we need to get at least 8 to win. We must have the big hits today with runners on base. Don't be surprised to see the freshman pitcher they have if we get to the starter early.

Would you swap Holcomb and Leach in the lineup today? Holcomb is on a 8 game hitting streak. She is 12-23 in that stretch. She actually has a higher batting average and OBP since the beginning of SEC play so she is getting on base. Leach on the other hand is more capable of driving the ball in the gaps. Maybe with McClain at 9 and Holcomb at 1 Leach would come up with runners in scoring position more often and could hit away instead of slapping. Just a thought

Hopefully we have seen McBride enough now, and watched video, to adjust better today if we see her. I looked back at her stats and in SEC games her ERA was 6.12. She gave up 11 hits and 4 walks in only 8 innings. Morrison actually pitched better for us in SEC games and had a better ERA. This is a funny game sometimes

I would do it because Leach has some power and Holcomb is all slapper. We want see it but I think it would be a good move because that number two hitter seems to always come up in big situations.

And Moss needs to quit asking where the pitch is. It's annoying me so I know it's annoying the ump
