Fisher Anderson
The Wade Twins
D’arco Perkins
Venson Sneed
Kaydin Pope
Patrick Kutas (Idk how serious we are about him, but he is a Vol, imo)
Seem to lead for Tayven Jackson
Seem to lead for Addison Nichols

Then you have guys like Hayden and James that we are really close for. (Top 2)

Not bad at all, with all things considered

I’ll probably get roasted for this comment but it’s different getting Low 4s and Higher 3 star kids that you can actually develop. I know that’s not what the star gazers will want to hear but when you can develop a kid instead of getting a 4-5 star kid that comes in and he’s either entitled or promised to start cause of his ranking or just doesn’t pan out, I’d rather have kids that you can mold and develop.

If CH can win and then you get the higher ranked kids AND you develop them as well, ooooo boy.

It’s a shame that kids came in under Pruitt and some seem to regress.

I agree 100% and I'm ready to see what Coach Heupel's all about.

I believe that the star system is a whole lot more accurate than it used to be, so it's really a pretty good indication of how a kid will turn out. In saying that you can't put a grade on a kids mental acuity + work ethic and I think it's great coaches that bring that out of them. Hopefully Heupel and Co are those type of coaches.

And I agree, if he gets the results on the field, the high ranked kids will definitely come. Kind of like how Rick Barnes showed how well he can develop talent, so now the big names are wanting to play here.

I think Clemson a few years back found a good formula. Now with their success they are bringing in the big guns, but before that they peppered in a few high 4* and 5* kids with a bunch of 3/4 star players who fit their system. It's a system that can work, but there has to be buy in from On High and coaching continuity.

Clemson also had an easier path with FSU and Miami tanking and leaving a void. It’s damn near impossible to do that same thing when you have Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Texas A&M, Auburn, and LSU out recruiting you. Even if 3 of those teams have a down year that still leaves 3 others that you’d have to consistently surmount for a few years and prove you’re on the rise.. it took Clemson a minute to really spike in recruiting.

We don’t play A&M, LSU, or AUB every year.

Beat the teams you’re supposed to beat and pull an upset vs UGA, FL, or Bama and all the sudden the record looks pretty shiny

One year isn’t progress, Tennessee has to do it for 2-3 years before I see us recruiting with Georgia like in my younger years.

I was just talking about progress and recruiting better overall. I don’t think we’ll sniff UGA or Bama recruiting until we somehow make our way into the playoffs

Sadly, this is true. Unless UT reels off an 8-9 season this year, it’s going to take 2-3 seasons to recruit at an elite level.

That’s why coaching and development is key at this point, not recruiting.

It’s a huge what if, but it’s our only path back to elite status at this point, IMO

We don’t have to recruit at the typical elite level.... we just have to find 2-3 stars and the rest be solid football players with very few misses.... I saw something on the build of Clemson one time.... they looked back at five recruiting classes and Clemson had like between the 14th and 17th best class in the nation but re ranked they were top 3 due to what I mentioned...... Contrast that with Butch Jones who brought several 4* that barely contributed at all.

You’re taking away the massive void left by the total collapse of FSU and Miami tanking... UNC was irrelevant so it’s not like they had the same challenging situation that Tennessee unfortunately has. Clemson can’t be used as a fair comparison for Tennessee unless they deal with the same situation. I doubt Clemson takes the meteoric rise they experienced had they recruited at that 2-3 star level while competing every year with Georgia, Florida, and Alabama. Throw in the rotation west team means one year it’s Miss St then the next it’s LSU... it’s just a lot more difficult for Tennessee with that path than it was for Clemson.

Clemson started climbing while FSU was still very good. FSU won the title in 2013 and went back to the playoffs in 2014. Clemson started its streak of at least 10+ wins in 2011 and went to the playoffs the year after FSU.

I agree that UT has a tougher situation, but at this point, it’s baby steps. If we can get to 8-9 win seasons by developing talent, then we can build on that.

I think he meant 2-3 legitimate superstars. not 2-3* ranking.
