My families income is down around 10 to 15%, our expenses have increased about 15% with a kid in college. This year has been tough but we are keeping our heads above water.
I am not one of those who believes that God tests me, my philosophy is God gave us free will. By doing this he gave us the wonderful gifts of both good and love. The downside is there is also bad and hate in the world. You roll with the punches, and do your best. I don't see God as the type to put me through financial trouble to test my devotion. You are supposed to live the best you can, as good as you can, and roll with the punches.
typical "gotcha" question.....once again, I am ONLY speaking for MY situation.....but, I will agree that you ARE confused or just trying to confuse any readers of this thread
It's not a "gotcha" question, it is a legitimate one. He is just trying to reconcile what you say you believe and you can't seem to explain why he would be so blessed financially but doesn't follow the same rules of a God relationship or tithing that you credit yours blessings with.
It's a very legitimate question.
But you said your blessings are a result of your tithes. You are 100% sure of this.
So the reasoning would go that anybody who tithes like you should enjoy similar blessings. Otherwise, it isn't your tithing, it is your relationship with God. Of which, again, would have to be more special than others because you are especially blessed.
I'm just saying, I think you give too much credit to God, and not enough to yourself.
I know alot of Christians that have a much better relationship with God then I do, yet are not blessed nearly as well financially. He is the rub for the non-believer, I do not know why they are not blessed as I have been. I also do not question it. I give as I do because I love God and for that I truly believe that the money has come back from him in abundance.
I have no idea if the others, that I mentioned, tithe or not.
The obvious answer to that is the one variable that is different. YOU.
...not God, not how you believe, not how much you tithe.
I know you disagree with that, but it doesn't change the reality of how you have accomplished what you have.
We obviously don't believe the same thing here. And that's fine. But I believe you sell yourself short by over estimating the credit of your accomplishments toward your religious beliefs.
You just don't get it and I pray that one day you will.
You want me to doubt God's provision in my life. You want to plant the seed that makes me think that anything that I have, I have "earned" on my own.
Sorry to disappoint you there rjd.
The problem is that I HAVE explained why. It is my faith in God. It is that simple. You two keep searching for more because you do not believe in God. I get that and I am not going to try and "convert" you or him over a forum.
KB also answered his question to which I replied with a smile. I was not going to go to the "devil" answer but it is a very legitimate one. The devil allows alot of people to do very well financially so that they have the "I do not need God" attitude.
My "credit" of the blessing in my life, comes from the relationship I have with God. Until either of you two have that relationship, I am quit sure that no anything I say will make sense to you.
My answer was made in jest.
I don't pray as often as I should but a couple of times a week I ask that he helps me be the best father, husband and man that I can be. I ask that he helps make me successful, not rich mind you but my family has needed a little boost every now and again to get over financial humps and so far we have made it.
I don't think God cares one iota about money or riches. I don't pretend to know if he actually had a hand in making sure a little extra work came my way or not. I am very careful about what I lay at the feet of God or the Devil.
