Supreme Court kills affirmative action in university admissions

... and finally, I meant no offense with the "Uncle Tom" reference. Make no mistake that I loathe Thomas ...but I probably shouldn't have been saying that.

Going to poor myself one last C & C and go to sleep.
For the best. You really offered some indefensible opines today.

State run institutes of "higher learning" will only understand when our elected representatives have the C.O. JONES to hit them where it makes them listen best. $$$$ college have to go back to being neutral and allowing dissenting opinions and take swift action to "peaceful protests (violent mobs who kidnap women swimmers speaking out against 6/4 men changing in the same locker rooms")

This would be speed that rivals the amount of time it takes France to surrender during war time.
But of course ... Ha-vahd (Boston accent) is private.

Well, little Miss Cupcake has weighed in and she’s in hysterics over it, so much so her own racism is showing. You should see the rest of her Twitter page. She’s truly a twidiot.

Without Affirmative Action in place in 1971, more than likely, Clarence Thomas would have been discriminated against ... because that was common in Ivy League Law Schools at the time. Things have dramatically changed since then ... but it is still fair to point out, that in all probability, Clarence Thomas once benefited from a program that he just struck down.
You should reflect on this some. It reeks of unintentional bias. So in your opinion he's likely a hypocrite. That's more likely than him believing in himself? The first AA graduate was in 1874. So you think it likely they would keep him out over a 100 years after that? Seems like you have a screwed up world view. It's absurd to think he was counting on or hoping for affirmative action. It's insulting to him. In fact, how about you tell me which AA admissions you think would have happened absent that benefit vs those that would have been admitted no matter what. Who you telling that to? What do you think their response would be?

Don't you think it's a parody account? Like she is making fun of liberals, perhaps? Maybe you are just playing along ... but it's hard to tell.

Terrence K. Williams disagrees with Erica Marsh. Based on the BB metric for who is and isnt part of the black community, is Erica Marsh black(er) compared to Terrence Williams???

Not sure you have a point there or not .... Between the time that the disgrace of Plessy v. Ferguson was overturned by Brown v. Board of Education in 1954, there was a lag time between when the separate but equal philosophy was finally dumped and the Supreme Court's ruling was capably enforced. The country needed AA ... and it's fair to say that Thomas is aware that at some point in his education it was of benefit to him and to other black students as well.

So if he didn't agree with AA he shouldn't have applied to school bc he's not good enough? I mean they have shown to accept African Americans. But you think he should have not applied. Bc you think he's now a hypocrite. I think you under estimated him and people. This isn't hard.

Don’t know for sure. From what I could tell, this person or person claiming to be her tried to walk it back with a follow up tweet. The rest of her posts are quite colorful as well, as in unhinged. I’m not on Twitter, but you could pull up her page just on a Google search.

I highly recommend Gorsuch's concurrence. I don't see how anyone, even one who might otherwise be in favor of AA, could look at the methodology used by the colleges to make determinations of "race" and come away thinking "this is great way of doing things."

No, I'm familiar with the struggles that our country went through in ridding ourselves from "Separate but Equal" and Jim Crow laws. AA was of assistance in helping black students pursue a quality education. There is no doubt that.
