Supreme Court kills affirmative action in university admissions

Had they done this 5 years ago my son might have applied to MIT but he’d been brainwashed by his teachers to believe white privilege would work against him. And he was valid victorian at his HS. His Hispanic friend however did apply and now has an EE degree from MIT.
Maybe white privilege is just an escape goat in all this.

Do you think the EE degree from MIT has done more for him than if he’d have gotten one from T A&M?

Not necessarily. TAMU is a great school for engineering, I’ve known a number of business owners who got educated there. In my son’s case he went to Rice, got a degree in computer science and is becoming adept at the engineering we do in my company. But I’ve been thinking about hiring an intern or two and A&M is top of my list.

I fully expect the universities to continue doing exactly what they've always been doing. Liberals like to just ignore court decisions that aren't in their favor. Some of them may find another way to justify their decisions. However, my guess is that before finalizing their admissions decisions, they'll apply a race filter over it to make sure that they made "the correct decision".

That's the rumor only the Democrats came up with. Democrats think everybody is a racist white supremacist, regardless of skin color, when you disagree with their policies.
I am waiting on the claims of white supremacy in this case, it will be fun to see.

"But a coalition of Asian American students says the criteria discriminated with a "racial penalty" – holding them to a selectively higher standard than many Black and Hispanic students."

I asked because we have friends and their son wasn’t admitted to MIT. He’s going to TN Tech for Electrical Engineering and he’s convinced he’ll never have the opportunities he’d have had if he’d gotten into MIT.

Rice is an excellent school. Just curious, is there much drop off from A&M to Texas Tech?

There’s a point when being really good at what you do is more important than the insanity and people will see it even if they keep a couple token spots open.

Whole point is to stop seeing people through a racial lense. Darn Dems want to keep it alive so they can keep minorities enslaved to their perpetual victimhood and thus their need for bwanna massa lady Karen to heps them.

Dems claim that being colorblind is being racist! Can you image MLK turning over in his grave?

In today's day and age - why should anyone care what color skin you have at all? are you 1/8 black, 1/4 mexican, 2/3 irish? who cares?

The whole idea is to see people for what they are not what they look like. What they are is based on what they believe and how they think, the choices they make.
Just like Pocahontas and others leveraging ethnicity

I think if you want to go to academia and research, MIT is good. If you want to work in industry, like your local power plant, TN Tech is better. I've seen a few smart engineers from TN Tech, not any bad ones. Probably better than UTK, but really it's the person not the school.

My son got his mechanical engineering degree from TN Tech, it's a great engineering school.
