Supreme Court kills affirmative action in university admissions

It is irrelevant how long this injustice needs to be righted. If it's in violation of the Constitution then it's illegal. Period end of story. There are no caveats or exceptions to breaking the Constitution. These schools need to come up with a way to achieve their diversity that doesn't violate the Constitution
Why do we need diversity?

This ruling by the SCOTUS has gone a long way towards where we need to be.

That's another question altogether. Personally I don't run my business that way. I hire the best people I can at the wages I pay. If these schools feel differently than I do, they gotta achieve it in a legal way. As long as it's legal, I don't care why they want diversity

Diversity for the sake of diversity is nothing more than sanctioned racism. I have yet to hear a good reason what is necessary or even beneficial

couple thoughts

1) if we do ever achieve our founding goal of equality of opportunity then our diverse population should result in diversity in the work place
2) diversity of thought/experience generates new ideas/new ways of thinking about issues/new understanding - race-based diversity is a crude proxy for diversity of thought/experience but it's much easier to use than true diversity of thought/experience.

(d)iversity is wonderful. It yields great benefit.

(D)iversity is a sham. It yields disfunction.

The Truth About Legacies

Jul 05, 2023

After an initial burst of indignation at the Supreme Court for taking on the unpleasant task of informing college admissions offices that race discrimination is unconstitutional, the media's main focus quickly shifted to their favorite topic: blaming white men.

True, it was going to be difficult to turn a case finally ending 50 years of discrimination against whites into a story about how whites are oppressing blacks, but you don't know our media. The fact that the plaintiffs in this case were Asian didn't even slow them down.

Within hours, everybody was talking about "legacies." The children of alumni are apparently the ne plus ultra of whiteness. The New York Times called them "white, wealthy and well-connected." And that's how "legacy" entered the vocabulary as an epithet for white men, joining "frat boys," "rich," "privileged," "Chads" and "lacrosse players."

Unfortunately, much like #BlackLivesMatter, this latest orgy of hatred for whites is going to end up hurting black people the most.

Big Boo Hoo. So sad Rep.Cori Bush has a sour taste on too many freedoms to live in ...
Communist Democrats are never grateful for the good things they live in on a daily basis.
If she hates this country so much why not go live in China for awhile & see if that works better.

She takes stupid to another level I didn't think was possible 🤦‍♂️

Remember you're a racist if you don't support affirmative action. Even on things like the SCOTUS or VP. They can show themselves to be woefully incompetent but shh

Apparently about half of black babies will die now during labor….not including killing them before birth.

Medical Schools Issued Warning about 'illegal conduct' following affirmative action ruling

EXCLUSIVE — Medical schools that give preference to minorities and female applicants risk lawsuits from America First Legal, the conservative legal group warned in letters sent to "nearly every" U.S. medical school in light of the Supreme Court striking down affirmative action.

America First Legal, a nonprofit group headed by former President Donald Trump adviser Stephen Miller, told the Washington Examiner exclusively on Thursday that it warned the nation's top medical schools that they would be sued if they fail to cease discriminating based on race, sex, and national origin in admissions and faculty hiring.

If employers concluded that anyone could get into a college, they would use GPA even more as a criteria when hiring.

Take GT for instance; it is very difficult do get into and even more difficult to stay and graduate. Employers aren't concerned with GPA - just the simple fact they were able to get in and graduate.

If admission requirements changed, employers would change the way they evaluate GT students.
You sound like you’re making an argument against affirmative action
