And Manning is still listed. Thats dumb as hell. Surely this judge isn't this foolish.

Well, that I could kinda understand. If any of these bogus allegations against the school were actually true, then the false claims against Manning could demonstrate a pattern. I have no problem with Manning being left in the suit. It shows how outlandish and far-fetched it all is.

But all the alleged incidents happened here. All of the witnesses were or are still here. Who's not here? - The money-grabbers. Why should they get preference?

Agreed on location. It was a silly explanation by the judge too. "Because UT has ties across the state as a state institution" to paraphrase.

The Judge just giving these poor people hope of getting big money. The sad part is there is no hope in them being successful in proving that Butch and crew is creating a rape culture. No hope at all, they are just trying to get UT to settle, Judge included. It's an election year, you know what the Judge is thinking....."4 more years".

For you youngsters "4 more years" is slang for getting re-elected.

I still hope they all get what they deserve.

Judge keeps UT Title IX lawsuit in Nashville | WBIR.com

Not sure if she has ruled on Manning, it sounded like she was going to rule on each separately.

Not sure how you got paraphrase, but I do agree it was dumb. She said that UT only listed distance as reason and she felt like 3 hour drive is not inconvenient. Yeah, that is why people choose to live 3 hours from work, because it is not inconvenient.

The judge is a federal judge - appointed for life.

Must still owe huge favor to whomever made the appointment.

Bill Clinton... which is ironic, given, you know, the numerous sexual assault allegations made against him.

But seriously, this judge also sided with Occupy Nashville when Haslam wanted to have the state troopers finally kick them out of Legislative Plaza, despite a Supreme Court case literally holding that camping out in a public place is not speech protected by the First Amendment.

She also was the first to basically invalidate Tennessee's marriage laws.

Draw your own conclusions.

Another article says:

"The plaintiffs also said the motion to dismiss or move the case due to a lack of venue was 'entirely without merit' and noted that all eight plaintiffs filed declarations saying that having the case in Nashville would be 'more convenient, less expensive, and necessary to avoid the trauma and mental anguish' associated with having the trial in Knoxville.

Which is interesting considering that two plaintiffs are reportedly still involved with UT football players, Notright lives in FL, and the latest "victim" isn't a student so she probably wasn't in Knoxville because of a university connection that she later severed. Of course, since we don't know the identities of the accusers, we can't actually verify the veracity of the judge's statement.

That would be Bill Clinton. Although another little thing to pump up the blood pressure - this judge is a Vandy Law grad.

The judge being a Vandy Law grad. is a good enough reason. But being a Clinton appointee, explains it all.

I just changed my mind, it's time to settle.

If a judge wants to rule against you, they probably will.

But seriously, the venue ruling is kind of surprising. This is a very sensative lawsuit, I hope everyone gets what they deserve. Even in Nashville it will be hard to prove " creating rape culture".

Is this going to be a suit decided by jury or judge? Not familiar with how that part will work.

Purely legal issues (like where the trial should happen) will be decided by the judge, but ultimately questions like whether UT's actions amount to illegal sex discrimination will be decided by a jury.

You mean plaintiffs? I haven't been keeping up with it much lately.

As for Naughright, being that she's in FL, it doesn't matter whether the trial is in Knoxville or Nashville. She 's not a plaintiff, is she?

The Nashville newspaper has an article that Coach Jones phone records show calls to police and players following whatever happened after the UT/Ky game involving AJ and other player. Included was call(s) to Drae Bowles. Assume this is part of public records request.

You've got trial lawyers along with a judge community in Nashville that is left of Karl Marx, activist, and IMO extremely left wingers. Bernie Sanders would see them as too leftist.

She needs to recuse herself if that is the case

That's a pretty ridiculous idea

Butch just said he calls lots of people after a incident like that.Said he gathers all the info he can before he makes his decision.

“Anytime we have a disciplinary issue with a player, we have as many conversations as needed with players, parents, law enforcement, whomever until we can be sure that we are making the best decision possible,” Jones said through a statement. “These are decisions that can be life-changing for these individuals. After taking into account all the information we could gather in this case, we made the decision to suspend two student-athletes from the team immediately.

“Regarding the calls to Drae Bowles and his father, I care about Drae as a person and as a player and have frequent communications with players or their parents,” Jones said. “I am very comfortable with everything Drae, Mr. Bowles, and I discussed, and I wish him nothing but the very best. My intent was to support Drae and make sure he was ok.”

The Tennessean has just gone nuts. Imagine if Jones got word that some of his players are in trouble and he doesn't bother to call anyone. What would they be saying then?

So. Based on what I read about who he talked to, those are the folks that I would have expected him to be talking to in order to make a decision on the two players involved in the situation.

To me this is a head coach doing what he should be doing if he cares about those he coaches.
